He has some cognitive impairment but resign?  If that were the case Brandon should have resigned a long time ago; he should have never been sworn in to begin with.
He probably isn't as impaired as Biden or Feinstein, but the fact remains that an elderly person, in most cases, can't handle this sort of job. Grassley may be the exception.

I am 100% for term limits: no more than 12 years for the House or the Senate.

Neurosurgeon I know just texted me in response to the McConnell video saying it’s obvious that McConnell just suffered from an acute stroke.

“You can see it in the eyes. Dead eyes. Forgets where he is and who he is. Cognitive breakdown. Common in stroke patients”

Could have been a TIA and not a full-on stroke.

I look at our upper level "management" and get scared and depressed. Either they are sick or have dementia. Or on drugs (Kammie). Not exclusive to the fact that, with very darn few exceptions, the whole crowd are a bunch of self serving b@stards that really don't care about this country.

McConnell has done some good things. It may be time for him to go home to his Ole Kentucky Home.

As for age; I think 75 years should be the maximum. This would prevent someone who is 74 running for president -- because of age they wouldn't be able to finish out their presidency and would exclude them.

I wouldn't call for McConnell's resignation. Let him finish his term (expires next year, right?)

Rather, it's time for him to step down as majority leader.

Perhaps he could then serve as a sort of "consigliere" to his replacement insofar as Senate rules and strategy are concerned...

Term and age limits are necessary.

I don't think you could get term limits through the ratification process, but perhaps age limits would be doable.

It looked like a TIA or mini-stroke. His family should have insisted he not run for reelection last time. He isn't well.

@mountaineer

Families can "insist" all they want, but it's like leaving notes for Santa.

Nobody can force Mitch to retire until Mitch decides  to retire,or dies  on the job. Winch ever happens first.

The fact is,this is all he knows anymore, and he would be lost without the job.

Other than perhaps getting an incredible sum of $$ for continuing to screw things up for the GOP, I don't understand why they stay.

They keep getting reelected.

The preference should be term limits.  Age limits will bleed into the private sector.

Yup SB228.  Beshear vetoed it but it was overridden and became law 2 years ago.

IMO That was most likely a signal. This “incident” was not incidental at all. It was planned and scripted. Why?

I don't understand. How could a law be written and passed that is illegal?

It's not illegal. The House and Senate passed the bill...it got to Beshear's desk and he vetoed it...the legislature overrode his veto and it became law.

Mitch later wisecracked that he was "sandbagged," like Biden when he took a header.

Absence seizure, maybe?
Very strange.

"Very strange" is my take as well. I've seen some of the effects of a stroke and narcolepsy, and the ~30 seconds of pause is different from what I've seen.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw it
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

I have a friend that suffered from those before she got on meds. I think it's a very real possibility. Her memory is impaired...I wonder how Mitch's is?

The truth is that at Mitch's age,it could be almost anything.

For some odd reason,we don't seem to get healthier as we grow older.
