In January of this year I wrote a column titled: “FAA Covertly Expands Pilot’s Acceptable Heartbeat Range Due To Damage Caused By Vaccines.” The column discussed changes that the FAA had quietly made regarding the acceptable health standards of its vaccinated pilots. Those changes, make Thursday’s decision not to reinstate unvaccinated pilots stunningly irresponsible. For clarity, I am including pertinent parts of the column here.

Let’s say you own a business that requires certain employees to meet specific physical requirements within accepted medical ranges. Then suddenly very few, if any, of your employees can meet the required physical standard.

What do you do? These employees are absolutely necessary for the success of your enterprise and they cannot be readily replaced.

Well if you’re the FAA and you required your pilots to be vaccinated resulting in heart damage, you very surreptitiously increase the acceptable range of the pilots heartbeat.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) broadened a standard for normal heart function in pilots because medical evidence showed no symptoms or additional health risk up to the raised threshold, the agency told Reuters, adding that the change had nothing to do with COVID-19 vaccine effects.

Dr. Richard Kovacs, the chief medical officer at the American College of Cardiology, said in an email that the agency’s new range for electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements is still within current medical guidelines.

The Federal Aviation Administration widened its electrocardiogram parameters for pilots because “a substantial number of airline pilots have had serious heart damage” from COVID-19 vaccines.

The update is on the FAA’s website, revising its electrocardiogram "normal variants list," which details electrocardiogram findings that "are not cause for deferment unless the airman is symptomatic or there are other concerns."

It changed the maximum acceptable PR interval — a heart health metric measured by electrocardiograms — to 300 milliseconds, or 0.3 seconds. A PR interval between 0.12 seconds and 0.2 seconds is considered normal. A PR interval that exceeds 0.2 seconds indicates a first-degree atrioventricular block, which can cause a slower heartbeat or abnormal rhythm. 

The Federal Aviation Administration told PolitiFact it raised the cutoff for a first degree ventricular block from 200 milliseconds, or 0.2 seconds, to 300 milliseconds, or 0.3 seconds, because the agency’s cardiology consultants provided information indicating that a PR interval under 0.3 seconds isn’t a risk for subtle or sudden incapacitation.
