Key Points

The Georgia Supreme Court unanimously dismissed a longshot bid by former President Donald Trump to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from leading a criminal probe into his efforts to reverse his 2020 election loss in that state.

The court also denied Trump’s request to quash the special grand jury report that recommended criminal charges in Willis’ investigation.

Willis has indicated indictments in the case could come in August.

President Joe Biden won Georgia’s 2020 presidential race.

The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday unanimously dismissed a longshot bid by former President Donald Trump to disqualify quash the special grand jury report that recommended criminal charges in the Fulton County district attorney’s probe of Georgia’s 2020 election.

The state Supreme Court also rejected Trump’s request that it bar Fulton DA Fani Willis from continuing to oversee the criminal investigation.

The ruling came weeks before Willis is expected to seek indictments in the probe of efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn President Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral victory over him in the Peach State.

So far, no one has been criminally charged in the investigation. And the identities of more than a dozen people who the special grand jury recommended be prosecuted remain secret.

Trump is an idiot.  This is his golden opportunity to finally challenge the legality of the election starting with putting Brad Raffensperger under oath in a court of law.  Yet he's blowing it all by trying to have the case thrown out.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

MUCH better to have the case thrown out now, instead of having it hanging over his head.

He could even use it as a campaign issue.

Only if your ego is more important than holding people accountable for violating election laws and stealing elections.  So Trump is supposed to turn things upside down and drain the Swamp?  The Georgia case is a golden opportunity to do so.  But Trump wants it quickly swept under the rug lest it hurt his chances of living in the White House again.

What?  That Raffensperger and Sterling go to jail?  That Georgia tosses out Dominion and ends left-wing groups like the Carter Center from running elections?  That they start enforcing chain-of-command rules in the handling of ballots?  That they stop counting ballots after election day?  Nope.  Can't have any of that.  Burying this so that Trump will no longer have a legal case is far more important than ending election corruption.

All that would happen if Trump put up a competent legal fight.  It has nothing to do with him getting or not getting elected.  In my opinion, winning a case like this would greatly enhance his election chances.  The prosecution has no case without Raffensperger taking the stand and testifying under oath.  Opportunities like that should be taken advantage of.  Too bad Trump doesn't give a rip about cleaning up elections.
