In 2018, Pope Francis and the Vatican signed an agreement with the Chinese Communists that, among other things, gives both sides a say in the appointment of bishops. This agreement was ignored by Beijing three months ago when they unilaterally named Bishop Joseph Shen Bin to lead the Diocese of Shanghai.


Instead of standing up to the Beijing bullies, Francis gave in and announced on Saturday that he had accepted the Communist’s appointment despite Beijing’s blatant violation of the 2018 accord.

The Church in China is sharply divided between the “official” Catholic Church sanctioned by the government and an “underground” church that follows the Vatican. It puts Francis in a difficult position, but is he so naive as to believe that every time he gives in, the Communists won’t take advantage and push the agreement a little farther?

Cardinal Joseph Zen, a former bishop of Hong Kong, and other critics have complained that the agreement is “a betrayal of the country’s underground Catholics loyal to the pope,” according to the Wall Street Journal.

ALL religious leaders are socialists because they are at the top of the money chain in their organizations,thus they control it all.

Yeah,they DO spend money on various charities,but not enough to put them out of their mansions  or private jets.

Not to mention how  does your religious leader pay his bills?

Certainly understand why the 'Pope' would accept a candidate nominated by The Party.

Shouldn't take them long to find someone who 'understands' that any mention of politics stops outside the Church's door.

Full time leaders get their housing (no mansions) provided and their living expenses are paid by the Church as are all their travel expenses. Every penny is fully accounted for. @sneakypete

Marxist, socialist, communist, he is all those things, and it is easy to see why he bows before the CCP.  First a Nazi, and now a communist.  What next, a member of the LGBTQI?  Don't be surprised.

I see the Roman Catholic church accepting and recognizing that and ultimately abortion.  When that happens, Christianity takes a major fall throughout the world.

The Russian Orthodox Church in Stalinist Russia let the Communists hand-pick officials (Metropolitans and Patriarch? Not sure of the proper terms.) and priests, and became a Communist tool.

The Catholic Church in 1930s Germany let the Nazis hand-pick bishops and priests, and became a Nazi tool. The Protestant church in Germany did the same.

Compromise with the Communists and Nazis did not save faithful Orthodox, Catholic, Lutheran, and Reformed believers from Communist and Nazi persecution.

Didn't save them from the Ovens,either. In FACT,it sped up their fates.

Why hasn't Francis learned from history?
