So sad.  People no longer have any respect for this country nor its fellow neighbors.

Lake Tahoe has been transformed into a 'land fill' after July 4th revelers left behind a staggering 8,500 pounds in trash at the massive freshwater lake.

Independence Day partygoers flocked to the water in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, straddling the border of California and Nevada on

Cigarette butts, plastic food wrappers, beach toys and barbecues were all plucked from six popular beach sites and nearby parking lots around the Tahoe Basin on Wednesday during the annual July 5th 'Keep Tahoe Red, White & Blue' Beach Cleanup.

During the volunteer cleanup, which has been running since 2014, over 400 people raked up the mountains of trash which was 'tragically an all-time high'.

A video was shared to social media of Wednesday's cleanup - described as 'quite a hangover' - showing the giant piles of garbage scattered around discarded beach chairs and tents. ..........

Well if they know who had the campsites they should charge and fine the bastards to maximum and prohibit them from ever entering the national park again, and if it was north shore than Nevada should charge and fine them. Tahoe is one of my favorite places and it was bad enough decades ago with low class people trashing facilities but this is beyond disgusting.

 8888crybaby One of the significant dicta among trail running events is to leave the trails as clean as before or cleaner. That is disgusting! Personally, when I work aid station I help keep the immediate area clean and walk 30 or 40 yards to either side of the station along the trail to pick up any incidental trash that might have been along the trail before we came.
