 Former prosecutor on new Trump tape: ‘This is game over’

Former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann said “this is game over” for former President Trump in the classified and sensitive documents case against him after the release of the tape that appears to show Trump discussing documents he had in his possession.

Weissmann told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell on Monday that the public should remember that prosecutors for special counsel Jack Smith, who is overseeing the investigation, have had the tape of Trump discussing documents he did not declassify before it was publicized.

He said Smith’s team has likely interviewed everyone who was in the room with Trump from the recording except the former president himself. He said this would allow prosecutors to have all accounts of what happened while Trump was speaking.

“And so, the big picture here, I think for people is … this is game over if you are following the facts and the law,” Weissmann said.

Weissman is a 100% politicized left-wing turd, and I wouldn't believe a word he says regarding Trump.  He was the lead Mueller guy and couldn't get Jack Squat on Trump himself.

My understanding is that these audio tapes were made with Trump's full awareness by the people who were working on Mark Meadow's memoir.   That's why Trump says things like "this is off the record."  So it is entirely possible that someone who made those tapes still had a copy, and they're the ones who gave it to CNN.
I was just going to ask why he was being taped in the first place.

It's simply amazing that a former president cannot secure qualified legal representation.  Maybe there exists a rickety MAGA juror in Fort Pierce who will overlook the evidence presented by the prosecution, the ineptitude of Trump's attorneys, and the self incrimination.

Audio tapes don't "show" a damn thing.  The tape may 'sound like . . .'  But it doesn't "show".  And it definitely doesn't make anything "appear".  You would think a lawyer would be smart enough to know that.
