Report: NYC Mayor Eric Adams to Cut Services for New Yorkers So Migrants Can Stay in Hotels Free of Charge

John Binder 9 Jun 2023

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) is set to funnel billions in local taxpayer money to the powerful hotel industry, providing more than 140 hotels with multi-million contracts to house newly arrived border crossers and illegal aliens. As a result, the city is considering cutting public services like meals for senior citizens and library hours for New Yorkers.

Since the spring of last year, more than 74,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in New York City — most of which are being given free hotel rooms to stay, paid for by local taxpayers, under a plan imposed by Adams.

The hotel industry, hit hard by the Chinese coronavirus pandemic in 2020, is profiting millions, potentially billions, from the lucrative migrant hotel contracts, Bloomberg reports. In many cases, records show that New Yorkers are being charged daily hotel rates that are well above the market rate.

Take the Holiday Inn in Manhattan’s Financial District, for example, which is raking in $190 a night per room given to newly arrived migrants — a 73 percent increase in its rate. This hotel, alone, is expected to rake in $10.5 million under its contract with the city.

The Row Hotel in Times Square, housing hundreds of migrants, is set to pull in almost $100 million from taxpayers via its city contract.

As a result, Adams has suggested that New Yorkers will see their public services cut, Bloomberg reports:

The cost of housing migrants is so extraordinary — an estimated $4.3 billion between April of 2022 and July 2024 — that Mayor Adams says he must cut city services to afford it.

To manage those expenses, Adams says the city is planning to trim services such as library hours, meals for senior citizens, re-entry programming for Rikers Island prisoners, and free, full-day care for three-year-olds. Last month, Adams also sought to unwind the city’s right to shelter, which entitles the migrants to housing within 24 hours of their arrival.

    …

Data provided by the comptroller’s office shows 37 hotels contracting directly with the city’s Department of Homeless Services are being paid daily rates ranging from $55 a day to $385 per day, sometimes far in excess of what the hotel rooms might otherwise rent for.

:silly: The towns and cities near the border are 1/100th or 1/1000th the size of NYC and had 10X or 100X the number of illegals flowing into them daily or weekly, and NYC is whi-i-i-i-i-iiiiiiining! :silly:

More "Sanctuary" cities need to be forced to put their "Sanctuary" $$$$ where their "Sanctuary" mouth is!
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Meanwhile, the commercial office space industry is about to fall off the cliff, taking much of the City tax base with it.  This'll be fun to watch.

A headline like that even as recently as 10 years ago  would have been met with  screams of outrage.

Now,they are an everyday thing, and people yawn when they hear about them.

What we are seeing is the equivalent of seeing a wildlife biologist watch and endangered animal feeding on an endangered plant.

Which preference will prevail?

City Hall bought $50K worth of plane tickets to ship migrants from NYC to Texas, Florida: report
By Nolan Hicks andBernadette Hogan
June 23, 2023 3:32pm

Mayor Eric Adams administration purchased plane tickets to send migrants back to Florida and Texas — the very states he has focused his ire on for shipping the asylum seekers here, records show.

The documents — obtained by Politico’s New York bureau — show that City Hall shelled out roughly $50,000 between April 2022 and April 2023 to resettle 114 of the recent arrivals outside of the five boroughs, including some who went back to South America and China.

The two most common destinations for those resettlements were the Sunshine and Lone Star states, which are run by Republican governors who have been engaged in a war of words with City Hall and Democrats in Washington over how best to manage the crisis along the southern border.

Roughly a quarter of those resettled — 28 — opted for Florida; while another 14 picked Texas, according to Politico’s analysis. Several more opted to return back to South America, with four picking Colombia and two heading to Peru.

One person opted for China, records show.  ...
