And the party goes on
At least 50 people have been shot, 10 fatally, in Chicago shootings so far this weekend, police said.
A shooting in Austin left one person dead and six others wounded. The shooting occurred at about 1 a.m. in the 4800-block of West Iowa Street, police said. In surveillance video obtained by ABC7, dozens of people can be seen running away from the gunfire, taking shelter behind vehicles.
A 25-year-old woman was killed in the shooting. Speaking with ABC7 off-camera, her family said Saturday night's celebration of life was for her then-boyfriend. Once police and emergency responders arrived on the scene, she was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said three men, ages 27, 28 and 29, and a 28-year-old woman self-transported to Stroger Hospital. The fifth injured person, a 17-year-old girl shot in the leg, was taken to West Suburban Hospital. All of them are expected to recover. Area Four detectives are investigating. No one is in custody.
