Case Closed: No Charges as DOJ Ends Pence Classified Docs Investigation

Former Vice President Mike Pence will face no criminal charges in relation to the discovery of classified documents at his Indiana home earlier this year, according to a letter seen by NBC News.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) had its own national security division formally inform Pence’s attorney Thursday it had closed the case and based on the “results” of that probe, no charges will be filed, the NBC News story details.

The department declined to comment but a DOJ official confirmed to the outlet the missive had been sent.

As Breitbart News reported, the matter first came to public attention when “a small number” of classified documents were found at Pence’s home in Carmel, Indiana, in January.

Pence’s lawyer alerted the National Archives to the matter.

The FBI later conducted a five-hour voluntary search of Pence’s home, and uncovered another classified document.

The DOJ was subsequently notified by the National Archives. The FBI and Justice Department launched an investigation into the documents and how they were taken to Indiana.

Pence’s home in Washington, DC, was also reportedly searched and no classified documents were found.

Unlike Trump, Pence did not have authority of his own to possess classified documents. Nor, for that matter, did VP Biden or Senator Biden.

LIEden's DOJ could be handing Trump a validated Selective Prosecution defense, should the DOJ try to prosecute Trump (very likely, IMO).

Former President Trump on Friday argued he should be cleared of wrongdoing for his handling of classified documents after the Justice Department said it would not bring charges against former Vice President Mike Pence on the issue, despite vast differences in their cases.

“Just announced that they are not going to bring charges against Mike Pence on the document hoax,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “That’s great, but when am I going to be fully exonerated, I’m at least as innocent as he is.”

Trump questioned what would happen with President Biden, who is also facing a probe over his handling of classified materials.

The Justice Department has concluded its investigation into Pence’s handling of classified materials after a few sensitive documents were found at his home and will not bring charges, a source familiar with the matter said Friday.

Separate special counsels have been appointed to investigate whether Biden and Trump mishandled classified materials. In Pence’s case, no special counsel was appointed.

In Trump’s case, federal agents raided his Mar-a-Lago home last August after he refused to cooperate with the National Archives for months to turn over sensitive government materials he took with him after leaving the White House.

Well, that, and giving a former Vice President a pass weakens the argument that Biden should be prosecuted for something similar. But Biden had documents in places he did not directly control, places funded by the Chinese, and likely sold such information from the time he was a Senator.
