North Korea, a regime that starves its own people, was just elected to the @who Executive Board. No joke. What this means is that one of the world's most horrific regimes is now a part of a group that sets and enforces the standards and norms for the global governance of health care. It is an absurd episode for a key U.N. agency that is in much need of self-reflection and reform.

North Korea's regime allows its people to die of starvation while they spend billions on nuclear weapons. ...

North Korea Granted Position on World Health Organization’s Executive Board
By Eric Lendrum
June 2, 2023

On Tuesday, the communist dictatorship of North Korea was elected to a position on the executive board of the World Health Organization (WHO).

As Breitbart reports, North Korea is now one of only ten members of the elite board, despite its long history of frequent nuclear threats against its neighbors, suppression of its own people, and occasionally taking foreign hostages, among other crimes against humanity. North Korea is currently run by dictator Kim Jong-Un.

“What this means is that one of the world’s most horrific regimes is now a part of a group that sets and enforces the standards and norms for the global governance of health care,” said Hillel Neuer, the executive director of the watchdog group U.N. Watch. “It is an absurd episode for a key U.N. agency that is in much need of self-reflection and reform.”  ...

In the same WHO session that elected North Korea, the nation of Taiwan was forbidden from attending out of fear of angering China, which does not recognize Taiwan as its own country. The WHO’s efforts to placate China are especially ironic, considering that China is the nation of origin for the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic which plagued the world for two years.

Also at the same session, the WHO voted to censure the state of Israel after the measure was loudly supported by representatives of Syria and Palestine, the terrorist regime which claims to occupy territory within Israel’s borders. ... Full story at American Greatness
