The alleged neo-Nazi accused of “intentionally” ramming a U-Haul truck into a security barrier near the White House has been identified as 19-year-old Sai Varsith Kandula, The Post has learned.

Kandula, a Chesterfield, Missouri man, was identified as the person who careened the box truck – adorned with a Nazi flag – into barriers along Lafayette Square, roughly just steps from the White House, Monday night, US Park Police officials said.

He has since been charged with threatening to kill, kidnap or inflict harm on a president, vice president or family member, as well as assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, trespassing and destruction of federal property, US Park Police said.

Law enforcement sources told ABC News Kandula rented a U-Haul vehicle from Dulles International Airport in Virginia after traveling from St. Louis.

After barreling the vehicle into the security barriers, he reportedly exited the front seat and started waving the red, swastika-emblazoned flag before he was taken into custody.

Mr Kandula, from the St Louis suburb of Chesterfield, Missouri, graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 2022, according to the Rockwood School District.

A LinkedIn profile that appears to match that description shows an interest in a career in data analytics with experience and certification in programming and coding languages.

Not my school, but nearby. I wonder where he got the brand new Nazi flag, though.

He allegedly waved the flag and shouted as he exited the truck before officers arrived to detain him. Mr Kandula reportedly told law enforcement officers that he wanted to seize power, take over the government and kill the president, law enforcement sources told ABC.

WASHINGTON (AP/KMOV) — A man from Chesterfield who was accused of intentionally crashing a U-Haul truck into a security barrier at a park across from the White House appeared in DC Superior Court Tuesday.

Sai Kandula, 19, was read his charges during the brief afternoon hearing. The charges against him include deprivation of US property in excess of $1,000, destruction of US property, threats to kill, kidnap the president, VP, or family member and assault with a dangerous weapon. He will be detained and the case will be transferred to federal court. A hearing has been set for Wednesday.

Kandula’s public defender argued that there was no probable cause for his arrest, contenting there was no evidence that the actions were intentional. The judge said the evidence suggested he drove into the barriers, pulled back and then drove forward again, indicating he intended to destroy the property. The judge also said the suspect posed a “significant risk to the community” and a flight risk.

According to an affidavit, Kandula had been planning this for six months.

In an interview with investigators, Kandula said his goal was to “get to the white house, seize power and be put in charge of the nation.”

When agents asked him how he would seize power, he told them he would “Kill the President if that’s what I have to do and would hurt anyone that would stand in my way.”

When asked about the flag he showed at the scene, Kandula said it was a swastika and that he purchased the flag online because “Nazis have a great history.”

The affidavit goes on to say Kandula said he admired Nazis’ “authoritarian nature, eugenics and their one world order.”

He asked if he looked up to any leaders, and he told agents “Hitler, because he was a strong leader.”  ...

The box truck’s driver smashed into the barrier near the north side of Lafayette Square on Monday at around 10 p.m., Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement. No one was injured. ...

Sai Varshith Kandula, 19, from Chesterfield, Missouri, was arrested at the scene after plowing the vehicle into security barriers at around 10pm. After crashing the vehicle, he jumped out of the van and started waving a Nazi flag.

Once in custody, Kandula told the FBI he wanted to overthrow the government, kill President Biden and take over himself. He is now being held in custody.
