Free Vulcan:

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Tuesday that he is sending more than 1,100 state law enforcement agents and National Guard members to Texas’ border with Mexico. The number is a tenfold increase compared to a similar move in 2021, and comes just weeks ahead of his expected presidential launch...

What DeSantis will be sending:

800 members of the Florida National Guard;
200 agents (in teams of 40) from the state Department of Law Enforcement;
101 state highway patrol troopers;
20 agents from the state Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Department of Emergency Management;
5 fixed-wing aircrafts;
17 unmanned drones;
10 waterborne vessels.
DeSantis' office said the personnel will be at the border for 30 days, with possible extensions. The announcement comes just weeks before the June start of hurricane season.

Fishrrman:
Good for Mr. DeSantis, but 800 National Guardsmen isn't enough.
Bump that up to about 2,500-3,000.

24 Republican governors commit to help Texas defend its border

Title 42, which allowed for quick expulsion of foreign nationals who'd entered the U.S. illegally during the pandemic, expired last week and raised fears of new surges at the border.

The governors pledging support in addition to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is deploying troops and resources in the next 24 hours, include those of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

They pledged their support within hours of Abbott’s request for help Tuesday afternoon.

Awesome.  I am so glad to see this happening.  This is definitely needed and hopefully Brandon & Co. will at least realize that there's going to be some pushback.
