MUCH mo betta to elect a career politician than Trump. What we need is someone who will go-along to get-along,right?
It's not necessarily about being a "career politician". It's about basic leadership/management/team building. You can be a professional politician, or not, and still have that ability.
Reagan wasn't a career politician, but he was adept at building teams and coalitions anyway.
Newt was a career politician, but was the opposite of go along to get along. He gave us the Contract for America, welfare reform, etc..
One of our best Senators is John Kennedy of Louisiana. I'm sure you've seen him, and he's been in politics for more than two decades. He's not "go along to get along" either. AOC was a bartender, not a professional politician, when she got elected. Does that make her good?
It's about the man (or woman"), and how good they are at building the teams/coalitions necessary to enact legislation, not how long they've been in politics.
