The View host Sunny Hostin took a swing at the intelligence of the Founding Fathers during Friday's show.

Hostin's co-hosts were discussing the allegations that surfaced regarding undisclosed gifts given to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. While there have been calls by members of Congress to have the Department of Justice look into the alleged gifts, the celebrity hosts were discussing who is in charge of checking the Supreme Court.

"I learned there were three different branches of government. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t know that. You have the judicial Branch, then you have the executive Branch, then you have the legislative Branch. Our founding fathers — while maybe not the brightest when it come to — came to slavery and things like that — they made sure that there was a system of checks and balances," Hostin said. "Why did Justice Roberts think it was okay for [Thomas] not to appear in front of Congress?"

lol...shoot the message not the messeger.  Point was some of our most brilliant American thinkers came from that era.  That was just POTUS.  Think about Hamilton, Franklin, Paine, and others who weren't even president,  and how their intellect impacted the infancy of this nation. 

Now contrast the theirs versus cloddy hoskins who likely doesn't break double digits.

OTOH, as far as Carter, Wilson, intelligence isn't directly correlatable to leadership skills.  In fact as big of a failure Carter was, you seem to forget he went to Georiga Tech, which is among the best engineering schools in the south, and graduated from the Naval Academy.  Not hardly inbecillic ed. credentials. 

Wilson was hugely book smart, but had the common sense of an 8 year old.   And as far as Fillmore, and Pierce, I really don't know enough about them to say one way or the other.

Carter spent two semesters at Georgia Tech studying math.  He never took an engineering course there.  He needed the math credits to get into Annapolis.

As to this stupid idiot's underlying question:  Why did Roberts think it was Ok for Justice Thomas to not appear in front of Congress?  Because the three branches of government you claim to have learned about are co-equal, and the checks and balances are only those provisions drafted into the Constitution itself - and the Constitution only gives the Congress one, and only one, method for checking the individual justices of the Supreme Court - impeachment.  It's all there, written out in black and white.  If Congress wants to discipline a sitting Supreme Court justice, then it has only one recourse - to impeach that justice.  Congress cannot call a justice to come and sit in front of a Congressional committee to get questioned about his or her affairs, and Congress cannot legislate a code of conduct for the Supreme Court.  It's impeachment or nothing, bleep-face.

Exactly. This is what comes of not teaching what we used to know as "civics" in the 9th or 10th grade.
