Clarence Thomas’s problems multiply at Supreme Court
by Al Weaver and Zach Schonfeld - 05/05/23 5:45 AM ET

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is facing a fresh round of scrutiny after the third blockbuster report in less than a month links him financially to GOP megadonor Harlan Crow.

ProPublica reported Thursday that Crow, a Dallas-based real estate developer, paid thousands of dollars in tuition to a private boarding school for Thomas’s great-nephew, whom Thomas has said he raised “as a son.”

Federal ethics laws require the justices to report gifts given to a “dependent child,” but that term is defined to only include the justices’ children or stepchildren. Thomas’s allies have insisted the payment doesn’t violate the disclosure law since it was for Thomas’s sister’s grandson.

But the revelation has only added to the increasing pressure from Democrats for the justices to adopt a binding code of ethics.

“Today’s report continues a steady stream of revelations calling Justices’ ethics standards and practices into question. I hope that the Chief Justice understands that something must be done—the reputation and credibility of the Court is at stake,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said in a statement.

When asked during a SiriusXM interview about impeaching Thomas, however, Durbin said “no.” He noted that only one justice, Samuel Chase, had been impeached previously, and Chase was acquitted in the Senate in 1805.

What about Sotomayor taking $3 million from a publisher that had a case before the court?

What about Elena Kagan actively participating in litigation and then refusing to recuse after coming on the court?

That isn't as on-point as Sotomayor's situation, given that the allegations against Justice Thomas are that he was taking money to be influenced.  Sotomayor also took money; Kagan did not.

This is all part of a well-funded activist group assault, led by the Soros-funded ProPublica and spoon-fed to a friendly news media.

Perhaps not. But there is still plenty. The difference is that they have been trying to get Thomas from day one and DID get Robert Bork while the other side gets no notice at all.

I hope these Justices reported this income on their taxes, or some IRS jack-booted thugs may be breaking down their doors.

But, this is another example of those in power not being held to account for things that would send unwashed deplorable hoi polloi masses to Federal prison.

If you are a 21 year old Air National Guard member who posts Sensitive Goverment communications or documents on Discord, you're life is over.

If you are a befuddled octagenarian President or Presidential Candidate, you can illgeally store Sensitive Government documents in a box in the garage, next to your bitchin' Corvette, without repercussions.

Why would anyone in the World want to be a source for American intelligence agencies?

A 21 y.o. Air National Guard member who has been given security clearances, and has presumably signed a whole slew of nondisclosure agreements related to his work, should have known, to a certainty of 100%, that posting sensitive government information on discord would be a life-over situation.  No sympathy for that f**kwit whatsoever.

The left wants total power and this is part of their plan. They want Biden to have carte blanche control over the government.

Just saying...

Yup.  And since that kid was not a "dependent child" with respect to Justice Thomas, no reporting was required.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

If your public, hostile takeover of the Executive Branch is successful without challenge or consequence, the Supreme Court is the logical next stop.

No one. That's the problem as far as the Dems are concerned. Here is an educated, intelligent, black man who didn't get where he is because of set-asides, quotas, or 'Equity' programs, but instead achieved through hard work and arrived in his position because of merit.
He is one of the best Justices of this century.

Which means any of the folks on the Democrat Plantation could do the same if they have the grit and determination.

THAT flies in the face of the entire song and dance the Democrats have been preaching for the last 60 years. Can't have that, can they?

Only thing they can do is try to tear down his accomplishments by trying to make them seem they were unfairly done. Which is why the whole character assassination campaign has been going from the git-go.

What about two justices performing gay marriages while the issue was before them about the legality? Like Roy Moore rightfully pointed out, they sure didn't recuse themselves from the decision having shown their hand in being partial on the subject.
