'Look, I know what I'm good at. I know how to articulate an argument. I know how to make it. I know how to land it. And I feel like I have the ideas that people are generally attracted to. So if you have those things, you have a good chance to be able to do it. No guarantees, but a good chance,' he told Fox News.
I agree with everything that came before the bolded. Christie is legitimately good at that, and it would fun to let him take some swings against Trump. But he really falls down on the bolded language. He has appeal to a certain type of establishment, East Coast Republican, but beyond that...it just isn't there. And he's got some serious baggage -- apart from his fat *ss -- that would make him not attractive to a lot of folks even if he did manage to kneecap Trump. His tenure as Governor of New Jersey definitely ended with some issues, he's got problems with Covid, etc..
Actually, hearing someone go after him on Covid could be pretty funny, because he was a pretty strong advocate for everyone following the CDC advice after he got sick and spent 7 days in an ICU. But he's kind of wide open to "Chris, it's not hard to see from here that you were in a high risk group, and expecting everyone
else to adjust their life to accommodate you isn't right. It was your job to protect yourself, now everyone else's job to protect you."
