Ohio Senate candidate proposes reparations for white descendants of Union Civil War soldiers

Ohio GOP Senate candidate Bernie Moreno proposed at a campaign event this week that white descendants of Northern Civil War soldiers be eligible for reparations.

"We stand at the shoulders of giants, don't we? We stand on shoulders of people like John Adams, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, George Washington. That this group of people took on the largest empire in history. They said no, we will not stand for this. And won," Moreno said earlier this week, according to the New York Post.

"That same group of people later, white people, died to free black people," he continued. "It's never happened in human history before, but it happened here in America. That's not taught a lot in schools much, is it?”

The Republican entrepreneur is the second GOP candidate to throw his hat into the race. Ohio state Senator Matt Dolan is his opponent in the primary.

“They make it sound like America is a racist, broken country," Moreno continued in his speech.

"You name a country that did that: that freed slaves, died to do that," he stated. "You know, they talk about reparations. Where are the reparations for the people in the North who died to save the lives of black people?”

  • I need to be in love, K.c. R.C.
He left out that after that white Americans after the civil war bought blacks that wanted to leave this nation, their own Country in Africa, Liberia.  These under cover socialist Communists that are trying to tear this Country apart, don't want to talk about that.

My Family having arrived 140 years before the Civil War and just escaping Santa Anna's rath 15 years prior in The Great Scrape to Louisiana with barely our life, changing our name and becoming rice farmers, had decided States Rights and/or Slavery were not worth sticking your neck out, again.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Think I'll call King Chucky, and tell him  I want some reparations for the feudal expungement and realignment after 1066.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

This may be my next Senator...and this is just clumsy.   Because suppose the response is "yes, we agree.  Let's give something to those who are descended from Union soldiers killed in the war, and to those descended from former slaves.  Okay?"

If they call his rhetorical bluff...what then?

They're lefties, and perfectly willing to do whatever wealth transfers serve their interests.   And if some money has to go to descendants of those soldiers (a good chunk of whom had no descendants because they died young), what do they care?  They wouldn't be paying it, and if that means more support for slavery reparations, that'd be fine with them.

Just too clever by half.
