We're now passed the one year anniversary of the date MacGregor said Ukraine would already have been defeated, and NATO collapsed.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
For all the talk of 'all the money' (and arms) going to Ukraine, just how much has actually gotten there?

Pledges of support without delivery do not put shells in the tubes, nor bullets down barrels.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Considering the far greater size of the Russian military, the fact that Ukraine still controls most of its territory, that Russia has lost prodigious amounts of first-line war equipment and troops, and that it is a brutal slog for Russia to advance even a few yards, I'd say there must have been a lot of stuff getting through to Ukraine, else they'd have long route out of munitions and been whooped a year ago.

Actually, it'd be pretty hard to hide stacks of munitions headed out, (not to mention a target for saboteurs who would use the negative press of an 'accident' to malign the supply effort).
My chief concern is the repeated assurances that billions of dollars are being sent, when I'd bet that cash is being siphoned to NGOs and other Agencies and may not be consistently ending up funding the war effort.

Totally reasonable concern.  I'm sure there are folks trying to make sure that isn't happening, but it is unavoidable at some level at least.

Better to go through NGO's than just handing it to the Ukrainian government, but still a problem.
