Nah. Anyone in Fallujah/Anbar during that period in particularwould probably have heard gunfire on a daily basis, regardless of MOS. Now obviously, just hearing it is a lot different than heading towards it, but it wasn't nearly the same as manning a desk in the Pentagon. Plenty of folks in non-combat positions got killed over there by snipers, in mortar attacks, or by IED's.

ALL those activities are still safer than "suiting up and going off to get bad guys",though.
Still,you make a valid point about there no being any such thing as a truly safe job in places like that.
