Too many Republican Party regulars are busy right now  trying to derail a candidate who MIGHT beat the DNC machine,

Just a reminder, this thread is about Trump trying to derail a candidate.  The irony never stops.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-

Excellent post.

Too many Republican Party regulars are busy right now  trying to derail a candidate who MIGHT beat the DNC machine, and ignorning the fact they might be shooting the RP in the foot while doing it.

WADR, that is precisely what Trump is doing right now - derailing the only decent candidate, out of churlish, childish spite and thin-skinned paranoia.

Reading this thread I see nothing has changed since 2016.

It's going to be a long campaign season by the looks of what has been posted here....PLEASE try to curb your personal insults to other members.

When did YOU become Miss Manners?

Who the HELL cares about him being  rude and  combative? I see that as a major PLUS,given all the alleged Republican wusses the RNC keeps feeding us.

Looks to ME,like you people want another "party man" that will wear red, march in a straight line, and follow the  orders of his globalist RNC masters.

People like you seem to want things to operate like always when the RNC runs things and controls the candidates.

*I* want someone that is going to go in there and shake things up.

How absurd is that, @sneakypete ?

Of EVERYBODY HERE, I certainly don't fit under your ridiculously large brush.
I stopped being a Republican to destroy the obligation that demanded I vote for 'Party men'...

I DID NOT vote for McCain't.
I DID NOT vote for Romulus.
And I damn near didn't vote for Boosh.
BECAUSE they are big money globalists.

JUST LIKE Tumpy.

I want a candidate who will govern from the RIGHT.
Like Desantis has proven to do.
And like Tumpy has not.

Simple as that.
Tumpy likes left-leaning big government.
THAT is why I will never ever endorse him.
Not a chance in hell.

DeSantis, on the other hand, has a proven ability to govern from the Right.
That's why I will back him.

And that's why there ain't a damn thing Tumpy can do to make it otherwise.
Especially baggin on DeSantis.

He's a friggin jerk, and he proves it every day.

Who the HELL cares about him being  rude and  combative?

Swing voters, without which no Republican can win.

And just to be clear, there obviously are times when sticking to your principles is going to force you to be combative, and to offend some folks.  That's unavoidable.  But what is avoidable is offending swing voters unnecessarily, or just for your own amusement.  It is entirely possible to stick to your principles and not throw out gratuitous insults that alienate voters you can't afford to lose.

The FIEND!

I don't think any of us have a problem with rude, because there is a time and place for it. Trump just couldn't discern when and how to turn it off. Besides, sometime the truth is offensive to others, so be it. He was like a loose wire connection to a light in the bathroom, you never knew when it would complete the circuit and usually it was when you least wanted it to.

Orange: He was that, but it came off as someone who wanted to look tan but didn't have the skin type to actually pull it off. Like his tiny hands couldn't find the off button on the tanning machine. Again, just stupid stuff that only Trump seemed to care about.

Wealthy: I could care less, one way or the other, unless it blinds the person, only you and Trump seem to care... Trump for a while constantly defended his projections of being a billionaire with both barrels blazing. When the press came out saying he was over reporting his wealth, all Trump had to say was "values fluctuate and sometimes I am worth more than other times".... like all Billionaires do, their stocks wax and wane constantly depending on what the market does and what they have invested in. I invest in God, Family, and Country (a distant 3rd), but want someone that has a sensitive/honest/trustworthy finger on the first two as well as the third. Sometimes when money is no issue to you, all you want is power (even more addictive than money), thus why you see a lot of rich run for office. It is why you see some wave a rainbow flag at rallies, they want that power so much that they will cater to folks (log cabin republicans) that don't care for the first two on my list.

@roamer_1

I’ve learned to ignore him when he starts that orange, rude, and wealthy crap

It means he’s losing the argument but is afraid to admit it, and that’s his last resort

If he wants to vote for the same big spending politician  that helped get us into this inflationary mess, then that’s his right.

The rest of us will choose otherwise

For the most part, I agree

Sure. Maybe we can vote for somebody to do something about the unsustainable spending especially entitlements

But how do you fix years of politicians dividing us by race, gender, sexual orientation,?

How do you fix an inner city culture that embraces violence and knocks achievement, and blames another race as the reason they have their problems?

I am sorry to say that I think you are right on this, but I ALSO THINK that 4 years of a bombastic and angry Trump, followed by 8 years of DeSantis after getting his "Feet wet" in Presidential politics,is the only chance we might have.

It pretty much HAS to be that was because the DNC and their RINO pals always band together to torpedo anything pro-American any first term Republican President tries to accomplish. For them,it is ALWAYS about "Me,me,ME,DAMMIT!" and not what is best for America.
