How Will the Coming Indictment of Donald Trump Impact the Campaign?
By Rick Moran 11:13 AM on March 12, 2023

Donald Trump is going to be indicted. (Pause for effect.) This is not earth-shattering news for most of us, but the mainstream media is going to portray it as a shocking development. It’s history, don’t you know? But no matter how Trump’s legal troubles are characterized in the hysterically rabid anti-Trump press, the country will divide, as usual, between those who hate Trump and those who love him. That won’t change.

And since almost everyone has already made up their mind about Donald Trump, it’s not likely that large numbers of voters will be swayed one way or another after this first indictment is announced.

Yes — the first. There are four criminal inquiries into Trump’s businesses, his personal life, and the 2020 campaign. And each and every investigation will almost certainly charge Trump with something. After all, if a prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich, charging Trump shouldn’t be a problem.

It didn't work out well for Admiral Farragut, either.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Does it impact the ham sandwich when it's indicted?
For those who can, get back to the land. Homesteading is a revolutionary act of resistance.

On balance, it helps him.

The economy is going into the toilet, and more and more people are fed up with the big banks, globalist corporations, high tech censors, and corrupt politicians. By the time 2024 rolls around, there will be a big majority in favor of "sticking it to the man."

There is no more embodiment for "sticking it to the man" than Donald Trump, and any indictments will just give him more credibility as the guy the establishment fears most.

I agree that, in context, any indictments are more likely to be somewhat positive for Trump than negative.

It may be enough to get him the nomination.

Yes, which is another reason why I would prefer for Desantis to sit tight, keep his powder dry, and continue building his powerbase for 2028.

I would be surprised if he wasn't.

The "establishment pols" do NOT want an outsider  in high office because he can't be counted on to let them pull their little "insider profitting tricks" like they  can with  an establishment pol with a history of cutting backroom deals for personal gains.

The GOP Establishment does not fear Trump.  He has been their very useful idiot for the last seven years.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

:mauslaff:

Name one “insider” con Trump stopped during his four years in office, or one deep state operative he got rid of.
