Train derails carrying 30,000 gallons of propane
Story by Jessica Kwong • Yesterday 6:59 PM

A train carrying more than 30,000 gallons of propane and sheet rock derailed in Florida.

Six cars, including one holding propane, fell off the train tracks at the Sarasota-Manatee County border on Tuesday morning, said Southern Manatee Fire Rescue Chief Robert Bounds.

A seventh car, which contained another propane tanker, jumped the track but did not flip. The propane tanker that tipped over was hauling about 30,000 galloons. The other cars held sheet rock.

The derailment occurred around 11.20am near Boulevard East and 16th Street East.
