Nolte: We Should Accept Jane Fonda’s Apology About Vietnam

John Nolte 22 Feb 2023

After numerous apologies over four decades, it’s time to let Hanoi Jane Fonda off the hook for Vietnam.

During an interview with Barbara Walters 35 years ago, Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda apologized for being used as propaganda for North Vietnam when we were still fighting North Vietnam.

In 2005, she apologized again on 60 Minutes.

She’s apologized again and again. But…

Last week, she was asked to answer for it yet again.

Here’s what she said to Walters in 1988 about the 1972 incident:

I would like to say something, not just to Vietnam veterans in New England, but to men who were in Vietnam, who I hurt, or whose pain I caused to deepen because of things that I said or did. I was trying to help end the killing and the war, but there were times when I was thoughtless and careless about it and I’m . . . very sorry that I hurt them. And I want to apologize to them and their families.

Here’s what she told 60 Minutes in 2005:

I will go to my grave regretting that. The image of Jane Fonda, Barbarella, Henry Fonda’s daughter, just a woman sitting on an enemy aircraft gun, was a betrayal. It was like I was thumbing my nose at the military. And at the country that gave me privilege. It was the largest lapse of judgment that I can even imagine. I don’t thumb my nose at this country. I care deeply about American soldiers.

In 2013, she called it an “unforgivable mistake,” adding, “I don’t know if I was set up or not. I was an adult. I take responsibility for my actions.”

She apologized again in 2018.

She aided in help demoralizing our resolve for our military as a nation.  How many of our young died, by her helping emboldening the VC?

How is that ever forgivable?  150- 200 years ago, she'd be rightfully hung in a public square for her treason.

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

What part of unforgivable, as in "unforgivable mistake" does she not understand?

It wasn't just the slight to our servicemen, the traitorous aid to the communists, but the launch of the idea that somehow being communist was okay or even desirable that continues to echo in the youth of America today, and has grown from those vile (bad) seeds sown into the fabric of America.

Sometimes people do things in their youth that can be forgiven.

But going against our country and our servicemen during war time?

Sorry, Jane. Live with it.

Humility goes a long way with me.  I accept her apology.  But that doesn't protect her from the consequences of her actions.

As for the unapologetic John F'n Kerry, he should be hung from the neck until dead.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

I don't travel much out of State but I would urinate on her California grave.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

That is up to those that served then to decide whether they want to forgive her or not
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

@LMAO

I would include the families of those killed or maimed for life in that group.

I would finance a keg party there.

Seeing that Nolte was born in 1966 and never served in Vietnam(disclaimer I didn't either but my number was coming up) I really don't think he has the right to tell Vietnam veterans or those who lived with the reality to just accept the Bitch's worthless insincere apology. Her daddy was socialist/communist as was her brother as is she, no matter how attractive the wrapper was, she was and still is a turd inside.

Pure poppycock.  You apologize for committing treason right as the hangman is putting a rope around your neck.  When I see the rope around her neck, then she can apologize, and I will accept it.

And one need not have been fighting in Vietnam or a family member to object bitterly to what she did.  I opposed that war, and thought every American boy sent there was sent to his death just as the Russian boys are being sent to their death today.

If we had an objective in that war, I would have supported it.  We did not have any objective while there.  Not for a single moment, other than to feed the military/industrial complex with more money.

And officially, Congress has not declared war since 1941, and the time has come to end the wars with NO CONGRESSIONAL DECLARATION.  Let these MFers put their name to the wars of the future.
