Another train derailment, just days after the toxic event in Ohio. At least this one has a known cause.

Officials are now responding to another deadly train derailment near Houston, TX. Over 16 rail cars, carrying “hazardous materials”crashed, prompting Union Pacific to monitor air quality at the site of the crash, according to the Splendora Police Department.

SPLENDORA, Texas (KTRK) -- One person is dead after a truck collided with a train in the Splendora area, causing the train to derail.

SkyEye flew over the scene, where at least seven train cars were seen off the tracks. Video also showed debris crushed under the front of the train.

The crash happened along U.S. 59 north at Midline, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

The northbound feeder road is closed at Fostoria as crews work to clear the crash. ... ABC13

Looking at the video above, it looks like the head end stayed on after the collision.

The derailment is somewhere back "in the train".

Perhaps there was something -- a piece of the wrecked truck -- that got caught up underneath?

Or... perhaps the "in-train forces" that occurred when the engineer put the brakes into emergency actually "popped a car off the rails" -- after which a few more followed.

When you "dump" the air on the head end (emergency), the brakes apply quickly, and if the front of the trains slows more quickly than the rear pushing against it, things can get dicey...
