Democratic Nebraska state Sen. Megan Hunt proposed banning children from attending religious camps in an amendment to a bill banning minors from drag shows Jan. 23.

Hunt proposed the amendment to “make a point” and will withdraw it if it garners enough votes to pass, she wrote Saturday. All–age drag shows, sometimes featuring child performers, have become increasingly popular in recent years, and Democrats and LGBT activists have fought against efforts to restrict child attendance, portraying these efforts as anti-LGBT.

“There is a well-documented history of indoctrination and sexual abuse perpetrated by religious leaders and clergy people upon children,” her amendment read. “For purposes of this section, religious indoctrination camp means a camp, vacation Bible study, retreat, lock-in, or convention held by a church, youth group, or religious organization for the purpose of indoctrinating children with a specific set of religious beliefs. No individual under nineteen years of age shall be present at a religious indoctrination camp.” ...

The whole point and purpose of a drag show is to expose the audience to inappropriate sexual material.  That is not the point or purpose of a religious camp; the fact that some religious figures have used their access to children at these camps to abuse the children does not change that purpose.

Is this loon REALLY comparing drag shows to the typical Bible Camp?

Granted,there ARE some Bible Camps out there more "over the top" than drag shows,but they are rare.

@Kamaji

No,it is NOT. The purpose is to expose children to what THEY see as appropriate sexual material.

Clearly,to everyone but a VERY tiny minority of the population,what THEY see as "appropriate" is NOT what the vast majority  of us see as appropriate.

I,personally,see NO sexual material from ANY orientation as appropriate material to be taught to children,but if you think it is and you insure that it is taught in an educational manner in order for them to protect themselves,I have no problem with it as long as the parents are monitoring what is being taught.

And I DO think it is better if a professional teaches this than a parent. It is probably too emotional for the typical parent to teach. I still remember my mother explaining the birds and the bees to me. Took me years to understand she was talking about sex.

Ban minors from attending Model United Nations.  That harmfully exposes young persons to Globalist and Communist ideologies.

I'm familiar with church camps. A little singing, a little Bible teaching, crafts, canoeing, archery, basketball or other sports, campfires ... if she wants to call it indoctrination, okay. But then I can call her a fascist.

This is like that idiotic "Punish me for Abortion!" stunt the extreme Leftists pushed when they tried to outlaw Viagra because men.  This is nowheres-ville, although you can count on the Rats to vote in lockstep to support this mess and keep it going.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

@mountaineer

There is no way in HELL that can be legal.

Since there is no such critter as a impoverished Catholic Church,the one those students went to should sue the hell out of the feral gooberment for allowing this to happen.

Yup...me too.  I was a counselor at a church camp for a couple of summers during college.  It was an incredible experience.

I went to Bible camp as a kid one year. It wasn't much different from scout camp, except it was co-ed and you got to sleep indoors instead of a tent.

Of course, she's being facetious, as she's made plainly clear, but it's blatantly unconstitutional anyway.
