The House of Representatives on Monday evening voted 221-210 to repeal funding for 87,000 IRS agents.

The so-called ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ gave $79.6 billion to the IRS over the next 10 years.

The Wall Street Journal said the new army of IRS agents will target the middle and upper-middle class.

According to new analysis, the IRS audits the poor at 5 times the rate of everyone else.

The IRS also has a history of targeting conservative groups.

The House approved its first bill on Monday night rescinding funding for the 87,000 IRS agents.

Let's imagine that the Senate passes this into law, what happens to the $79 billion?  Do they give it back to the Fed to be removed from circulation?  Or do they end up spending it on something else?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

That's right... There were a bunch of people here calling the Feedom Caucus holding out for real concessions political posturing... You want political posturing? This is it - McCarthy drawing a phony line in the sand... keeping his 'word', when he knows damn well the Senate will never sign off on it.

SOSDD - And this is the dumb crap Republicans have faith in.

House GOP passes repeal of IRS funding boost as its first bill in the majority
by Emily Brooks and Mychael Schnell - 01/09/23 9:32 PM ET

House Republicans fulfilled a key campaign promise on Monday, passing legislation to rescind the bulk of an IRS funding boost signed into law last year, marking the first bill passed by the GOP-controlled House this Congress.

The bill, which is unlikely to see action in the Democratic-controlled Senate, passed in a party-line 221-210 vote on Monday evening.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) announced that the first bill for a GOP-controlled House would be to repeal the new IRS funding in September, when House Republicans released their “Commitment to America” midterm policy and messaging platform ahead of the election.

A boost of about $80 billion in IRS funding over a decade generally aimed at upping high-income enforcement was included in last year’s Inflation Reduction Act, Democrats’ sweeping tax, health and climate bill.

The Republican bill, formally titled the “Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act,” is barely longer than one page. It directs any “unobligated balances of amounts appropriated or otherwise made available” to the IRS from the Inflation Reduction Act to be rescinded.

White House threatens to veto GOP bill that cuts $72B from IRS
The White House said Republicans are prioritizing the wealthy over the middle-class

By Patrick Hauf | Fox News

The White House said Monday it would veto a bill that passed in the Republican majority House that would claw back $72 billion in funds used to hire tens of thousands of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) staff over the next decade.

Last year, Congress approved $80 billion in new funding for the IRS to hire staff as part of the Inflation Reduction Act, which President Biden signed into law last year. Republicans passed a bill Monday to take back most of this money, a move the White House said would help corporations and wealthy Americans cheat on their taxes.

"Far from protecting middle-class families or small businesses, H.R. 23 protects wealthy tax cheats at the expense of honest, middle-class taxpayers," the White House said in a statement. "With their first economic legislation of the new Congress, House Republicans are making clear that their top economic priority is to allow the rich and multi-billion dollar corporations to skip out on their taxes, while making life harder for ordinary, middle-class families that pay the taxes they owe. That’s their agenda; not lowering costs or cutting taxes for hardworking Americans – as President Biden has consistently advocated."
