It goes way beyond the kid, why haven't we heard about his parents parent being charged, and if they have other children their being removed from the home?

@GtHawk

Beats me! Been wondering about  this myself. ESPECIALLY why we aren't hearing of either of the parents being charged with allowing a 6 year old access to a loaded firearm. The ONLY conclusion I can come up with is that one or the other of the parents is politically connected or prominent and they are being given time to get their defense in order before any charges are made.

I see NO way they can possibly avoid being charged, even if they are never convicted.

Virginia teacher was deliberately shot in chest after she tried to take away 6-year-old boy's gun: report
The Post Millennial, Jan 9, 2023

Following the shooting of a first-grade teacher at a Virginia elementary school, it has been revealed that the teacher was trying to confiscate a gun from one of her students when she was deliberately shot by the child.

Abby Zwerner, 25, took a bullet to the chest after the six-year-old boy reportedly pulled out a handgun in the classroom. The teacher was moments away from taking the gun away when she was shot, according to the Daily Mail.

The class had just finished reading a story together and were just about to begin an art class when the youngster pulled out the weapon.

"She was going to confiscate it, and that's when he shot," Brittaney Gregory, the mother of one of the shooter's classmates, told the Washington Post.

As she fell to the ground immediately following being shot, Zwerner reportedly begged her children to run away.

The teacher was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and is said to be in serious but stable condition.

Due to the boy's age, it is unlikely that he's ever going to be charged with a crime.

An adult could be charged under Virginia law, which requires that guns be kept in a secure location and inaccessible to children under the age of 14.

The six-year-old remains in police custody. It remains unclear how he came to be in possession of the handgun.

Well, a 6 year old has the attention span of a gnat and cannot remember a spat 15 minutes after it is over, so how does a 6 year old stay angry enough, long enough to decide to steal dads gun, smuggle it into school and fire it?
I am still suspicious that there were some nefarious activity going on with the school/teacher?  She was reading a story, what story and what was it about?  More indoctrination?

Boy, 6, who shot Virginia teacher used mother's legally owned gun, police say

Authorities offer the first detailed description of the moment the child opened fire on his teacher, in a shooting that has shocked a country accustomed to gun violence.

Tuesday 10 January 2023 11:26, UK

Teacher Abby Zwerner was shot and wounded by six-year-old boy at a school in Newport News, Virginia, US

A six-year-old pupil who shot his teacher used a gun that belonged to his mother and was legally owned, police have said.

Authorities said there was no fight or physical struggle before the boy opened fire on Abby Zwerner as she taught a lesson at a school in the US state of Virginia.

Police chief Steve Drew said the boy had taken the 9mm handgun from his family home in a backpack on the day of the shooting.

Providing the first detailed description of a shooting that has shocked the city of Newport News and a country now accustomed to gun violence, he told a news conference: "What we know today is that she was providing instruction. He displayed a firearm, he pointed it and he fired one round."

The Virginia elementary teacher who police say was intentionally shot by a 6-year-old student is being hailed as a hero who saved lives by escorting her students out of the classroom while wounded.

Abigail Zwerner was struck Friday while teaching her class, Newport News Police Chief Steve Drew said Monday at a news conference.

"The 6-year-old child displayed a firearm, pointed it at her and fired one round," Drew said. "There was no physical struggle or fight. She was providing instruction to her class."

The bullet went through the teacher's hand and into her upper chest, "but she was still able to get all of her students out of that classroom," he said.

"She made ... sure that every one of those students was safe."

Does anyone else find it eerie that Biden and the usual liberal howlers aren't screaming for gun control after this?  I do.  There can be only one reason they are silent - the shooter is a person of color. :pondering:

It's a safe bet. The kid stole his mama's gun. No worries, I'm sure she went through the whole background check business.

It may be more likely be that a six year old lacks the ability to understand what shooting a person actually does --- and it was as "simple" as he took out the gun, the teacher tried to take it, and he wanted to keep it.

If that is the case, an incredible amount of the ethnically based 'entertainment' out there involves a lot of people getting shot over relative trivialities.

Wouldn't that be the hoot of a sad event that this teacher was trying to encourage little Johnny to wear a dress and he didn't want to.  Something is not right here, and will the public hear the truth or will this get whitewashed?

Truth is hard to come by today.  My money is that there was something not right about this teacher.
I hope all of you realize that the majority of abuse comes from parents or other family members and very little comes from teachers.
And frankly I don't think it's a "hoot" no matter the cause of it.

@mrpotatohead

I started to post,"Parents who name their sons with names like "Kwanzee",but then I remembered I got my first gun when I was 8. It was a double-barrel 12 gauge with hammers.

Then again,I only took it to school once, and then it was because the Principle heard I had it,and wanted to look at it. One of my aunts was my bus driver, and when she asked me why I was taking a shotgun to school, she said "ok",and let me on the bus with it.

Not ONE single person, adult OR child was scared to see me walking around in the school carrying a shotgun.

Granted, that was a rural school, but times really HAVE changed.
Before Columbine, swe use to let kids bring guns to school on a semi-regular basis. We would re-blue barrels (You get a great Chemistry lesson out of that.) When the metal shop was up we made firing pins, we refinished stocks in wood shop, etc.. Klebold and Harris screwed it up for a lot of people.

The kid knew what the gun was for.
He took it from home.
Hid it in his backpack.
Took it out, aimed and shot.

Premeditation.

See my post 16 earlier in the thread.
It was not made in jest.

One more thing:

This kid is gonna kill somebody, sooner or later.
Do what's necessary now, to save that life (or lives).

@Fishrrman

100 PERCENT agreement.

Hell, there might even be more shootings at that elementary school, now that this kid has shown the other kids how much attention they get if they shoot somebody.

I think we sometimes underestimate how much kids actually do understand.

6 year old kids have lots of opportunities to do serious, even fatal harm to others.  Their houses all have knives with which they could stab a friend, a pet, or a family member.  They could push other kids in front of cars, down stairs, etc..

But as a rule, they don't.

And that's because the vast majority of them do have an understanding of what it means to hurt others, etc..  They know it is wrong, they feel badly about it, etc..

This particular little psychopath apparently was wired differently.  And he knew exactly what he was doing when he shot her

School Was Warned First Grader Had Gun Before He Shot Teacher, Searched Bag But Didn’t Find It

Sandy Malone

Newport News, VA – School administrators admitted that Richneck Elementary School knew the first grader who shot his teacher had been accused of having a gun in his backpack earlier that day and had searched the little boy’s bag but not found the weapon.

Newport News police said at a press conference on Jan. 13 that law enforcement was not notified about the tip the school had been given about the six year old having a gun before he shot his first grade teacher hours later, the Associated Press reported.

Newport News Police Department spokesperson Kelly King said in an email that the police department learned through their investigation after the teacher was shot that a school employee had been notified of a possible gun on campus before the Jan. 6 elementary school shooting.

Where has the child's skintone been reported? I certainly had no idea whether he was black, white or anything else. This idiot's tweet was the first time I saw any reference to it.

But without know anything about the child's ethnicity, I read a great many comments about holding the parent(s) responsible for permitting access to the weapon. This guy is such a freakin' liar and phony.
