New US lawmaker to swear in on rare Superman comic book

Robert Garcia to pay homage to his immigrant background, having learned English from superhero stories; comic inspired by Jewish writers’ experiences growing up in migrant families

An incoming US congressman intends to pay homage to his comic book enthusiasm and immigrant background by taking his oath of office on a highly rare Superman edition.

Robert Garcia, 45, set to become a Democratic House member representing California, will swear in on the US Constitution, his citizenship certificate, a photo of his parents who died of COVID-19, and an original-edition Superman No. 1 comic book from 1939, his office told the New York Post on Tuesday.

The Peru-born Garcia, whose family immigrated to the United States when he was 5, “learned to read and write in English by reading Superman comics so it’s especially exciting he was able to borrow this rare copy from the kind folks at the Library of Congress,” his spokeswoman Sara Guerrero said.

What a slap in the face to the Constitution, American traditions, and religion this DEMOCRAT just unloaded.  He's perfect for a democrat representative from Mejifornia.  Swearing to uphold the Constitution and law of the land on a comic book is about as big an insult as can be imagined.:3:

It shows just how seriously he takes that oath, which is to say, NOT AT ALL. So, like most of the Democrats in Congress, he has no intention of upholding the Constitution.

 ////00000////

Does this mean DC Comics characters will start appearing on our money?

How do his Marvell Comics constituents feel about this? ... could be a wedge issue for a future GOP challenger to exploit.

Considering Peru is like 74% Christian with 60% of that Catholic I would say it's safe to say this ass has no love of the Bible or respect for the traditions of the country he chose to live in and asked to represent. I wonder if he's just the typical socialist democrat or full on communist? Being a politician, especially a democrat politician I don't think I would believe a word he says, but I bet his actions will out the truth.

These are the kind of jerkweeds I absolutely hate. Tired of their smirky little digs against the Constitution.

Guarantee you they'll be taking that check and all the perks from the institution that the Constitution creates though, no problem.
The Republic is lost.
