They aren't rushing into a third vote, my guess is McCarthy has been head slapped and strong armed into negotiation, possibly for a new candidate.
The Republic is lost.

Why isn't his vote against McCarthy shown in the list of 19 a little up thread?

Hannity is backing McCarthy.  Yet another strike against him.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Trump's for McCarthy. Hannity has his nose so far up the orange rectum, I am not surprised.

If I were a rank-and-file GOPer in DeeCee, I'd be burning up the search engines with "What happened to the Whigs?"

We could be seeing this in live action today.  I'd been reminding them about this for years....the Whigs went down because they did not move on the most pressing issue of the day.  The GOP is not moving on the pressing issues of today.

1923 is quite similar to what we are seeing right now.

The GOP in general held a slight majority, with party itself fractured between mainstream GOP, Progressive GOP, and an Independent branch of the GOP.

Overall split of the GOP-dim split going into the 68th Congress was 209-195.  As then there were 414 in the House.  So Gillett needed 208 votes to secure Speaker's role.

Party Leader Frederick Gillett of NH fell short 12-15 votes short for the 1st 8 ballots, before he forged and alliance on the 9th ballot with the progressive branch with the party.

Does the Freedom Caucus hold firm, or take the same approach after some negotiations?

3rd ballot....

This just makes McCarthy look just that more inept.

Why don't they adjourn and bring the party into a close doored session, and have a once and for all, bring out the gloves, and all hash this out once and for all?

Already at 7, and we are only on the "D"'s.    He won't be elected on the 3rd ballot.

Welp, we once again did not make it out of the C names before Kevin McCarthy lost the votes to be Speaker.

No movement whatsoever in favor of him.

The rump Republicans drawing out the Speaker’s vote are making the RINOs’ case for them: that the GOP is held back by an extremist faction that must be marginalized like the John Birch Society. I criticized that attack when Christie et al. made it but Gaetz & Co. are redeeming it

McCarthy is mostly still on the House. Watching. Observing. His allies say it’s tough to watch. No one knows what exactly breaks this open. Everything fluid. Dems united and happy to watch him twist in wind but also wonder what the heck is going on over there.
