Seeing today, and hearing so many dye in the wool conservatives coming to the defense of McCarthy is totally depressing.

I think we may be seeing the death of political conservatism in this country as we know it this afternoon. Our side's whimpering and accepting this, is a betrayal of all the voters who wanted something different than the Biden Agenda.

After Jim Jordan spoke I watched from the gallery as he walked to the back of the chamber. As he left his seat, Stefanik shook his hand and thanked him. I did not see McCarthy — who was just across the aisle — even look at him or any communication between the two.

A third ballot now looks likely as the votes against McCarthy begin to tick up once again… the question now is what’s the breaking point? For him or his critics. Will there be a push to have a recess and huddle behind closed doors? Or is it a floor fight under the bright lights?

There's a theory the McCarthy detractors will try to make him look weaker on 2nd ballot by having more members come out against him, but I have heard from sources this was discussed.

We will see if that proves true. But he currently has 11 No's

Scalise is conservative and principled.

I've not seen a formal list of demands, but for me my main wish would to drastically reform the rules to stop or reverse what happened the last session.

Per Gaetz press conference. Looked like they were reasonable concessions to me.....
ALL McCarthy had to do to meet terms for speaker was:

1. Agree to floor vote on term limits
2. Agree to floor vote on balanced budget from committee
3. Agree to push forward Texas delegation Border Plan

Why would McCarthy refuse these?
