Dealing with these GOP mucky-mucks is like talking to retarded cats and expecting them to build a warp drive spaceship.

It is NOT mail-in ballots. Not per se. Yes I would like to get rid of them, but note that the problems in AZ were with election day ballots, not mail-ins.
It boils down to the voter lists and the counting, i.e. the security, transparency, and chain-of-custody. If you don't have a hand on those you have nothing.
Mail-ins are easy to reign in: 1) No more than a three week window, 2) Last ballots are mailed out two weeks before election day, 2) they must be postmarked by a week before election day, 3) they must be received the day before the election, 4) they must be counted the day of election, and no more than one day after, 5) absolutely NO drop boxes - everything must be postmarked.
The GOP doesn't have to either hate or embrace mail-ins - they need to tightly structure and control them in a way where a jurisdiction isn't counting them a week later and where un-postmarked ballots keep magically appearing the whole time.
