That's because conservative women tend to have conservative boyfriends or husbands,and they really aren't that worried about anyone attacking them because the price they would pay for that if the man/male relative in their lives catch him would be something you wouldn't even want to talk about,never mind witness and see over and over.

Want to talk about "industrial-strength ugly punishment?". If the attacker is REALLY lucky,only the men in her family would be involved. If he isn't,the men in her family would just "tune him up" to weaken him,and then turn him over to the family women. You ain't seen "mean" unless you have seen a mother and sisters take off on someone who harmed their daughter or sister. "Mercy" may be a word screamed several times,but it won't be heard or given.Scares me a little just to write about it,and I am NOT kidding about it,either.

Your final destination might even be a hog pen,and you can trust me when I write that is a place you will never leave unless it is as a load of hog manure when the pen gets cleaned.

Or at least that is how *I* would deal with anyone foolish enough to attack and harm a female in MY family,and even if I were to get caught,I would see no reason to apologize for it.

You remind me that Mrs. Joe's tribe were known for their ability to torture their captives, and it was the women who did the lion's share of it. I won't go into graphic detail of some of the things the locals did during the 'Pontiac uprising', but they'd keep a fellow wishing he were dead for well over a week during the transition from life while he was in serious disrepair.

But then, drawing and quartering or flaying, while quicker, likely wasn't much more pleasant beyond its relatively short duration (Unless copious amounts of salt and cautery were applied to the latter).

Really, though, aside from getting a little maybe valid information while the subject still thinks they may yet live, the purpose was to establish a reputation that made it unthinkable to mess around with you or your people or your territory or your stuff. Seeing the bird picked remains of some unfortunate tied to a pole that show they were systematically dismantled would be a deterrent to most, and an inspiration to revenge for only a hardy few.

I am 1/4 Tuscarora Indian. Tribe was originally from upstate NY,but some of them moved south for the warmer living. Things were going great for them,and then the white newbies at "Jamestown" decided the "Injuns" needed to be wiped out to benefit the "Christians" and please God,so they attacked one of the Tuscarora settlements,wiped that settlement out,and after that it was "Game ON!"

The Indians retaliated  by wiping out a few big farmers,and the whites paid a tribe from a more southern state that were historical enemies to come up and help them wipe out the Tuscaroras.

The end result was the white settlers ended up paying the local "Injuns" to move back north. Some did,but some just moved into the swaps and remained here. For all I know,some are STILL living in the swamps.
