--- Quote ---Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin, who led the country for a decade of rapid economic growth after the Tiananmen crackdown in 1989, died on Wednesday at the age of 96, Chinese state media reported.

Jiang died in his home city of Shanghai just after noon on Wednesday of leukaemia and multiple organ failure, Xinhua news agency said, publishing a letter to the Chinese people by the ruling Communist Party, parliament, Cabinet and the military.

"Comrade Jiang Zemin's death is an incalculable loss to our Party and our military and our people of all ethnic groups," the letter read, saying its announcement was with "profound grief".

Gag. Why must I always put on chest waders when Commies (foreign and domestic) lionize themselves?

The guy was probably half comatose, wore a diaper and bib, and was long forgotten except for the Tiananmen boot stomping.

The death of Jiang Zemin amid the White Paper protests creates a perilous situation for Xi Jinping
If he allows public memorials for Jiang, they have the potential to be used as protesters as cover to organize large-scale demonstrations in key cities
This is how Tiananmen began

The Tiananmen Square protests began as a memorial for fmr Chairman Hu Yaobang
And grew to 1 million strong, lasting for 7 weeks until the night of June 4th when Deng rolled the tanks
