The Run on Guns and Legal Battle Begin After Oregon's Gun Grab Passes

The joke these days is that if you put the Bill of Rights to a vote, it would lose. The latest example of this decline in intelligence is Oregon, where voters narrowly passed an anti-gun measure so ghastly that the Second Amendment has been “rendered superfluous.” Now, there’s a run on gun stores, and civil liberties advocates have begun the fight to once again “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity” and reclaim the rights the Declaration of Independence stated were “self-evident” and “endowed by our Creator.”

Don’t kid yourself: It’ll be a tough sell in Oregon, where wokeness doesn’t recognize “self-evidence,” and “our Creator” has been replaced by godless communist dogma. It’s a place where young adults believe free rent, cheap weed, and college loan forgiveness are civil rights. I’m an idiot and shouldn’t be trusted with sharp objects and things that could hurt others, they think, so you shouldn’t be, either.

The passage of Measure 114 was a giant middle finger to real civil rights and to the Supreme Court’s recent decision in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, which reaffirmed that Americans have the right to bear arms in public and to possess arms that are “typically possessed by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes.”

As a result of this new measure’s unconstitutionally crushing regulatory scheme, Oregonians are making a run on gun stores, with sales reportedly up by 382%. Northwest Armory owner Karl Durkheimer told The Oregonian that “the Wednesday after this Election Day passed our biggest day. The Thursday after the Election passed that Wednesday. It’s record business.”

And Oregon State Police, which is already slow in clearing most background checks, now has a shocking backlog.............

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

The next step will be to seize all the newly bought "assault weapons, and handguns that hold more than 5 rounds."

Then it will be on to shotguns and rifles, followed up by anything and everything left unless you get special political dispensation to own a firearm. This will of course be limited to the relatives and bodyguards of politicians and famous, wealthy people.

And why not? After all, what do peons have to protect that would require scum like them to own a firearm?

Fortunately, Oregonians need only travel half a day or less to Idaho or Wyoming for all their firearm purchasing needs. And there is plenty of traffic back and forth - Somebody they know is coming or going...

The impact outside of the left coast will be minimal. Even IF counties do enforce it, which I doubt most in western Oregon will do.

@roamer_1

NONE of that matters.

What matters is that precedents are being established, and this sort of thing will become established and commonplace.

Which,of course, means your "solutions/suggestions" would make you and everyone who follows them into felons who can no longer own or possess a firearm anywhere.

Which of course, means just about nothing out here.
I don't know anyone who doesn't possess firearms. Felon or otherwise.

But I get your point, and well taken. However, nothing is going to stop the machinations of Portland and Seattle upon Washington and Oregon... Except nullification.

Like all city-states - and that's what these are, these mega-cities that have become so populous as to control the state they are in - There is nothing else to do. They have the votes to do as they please, and will do to WA and OR the very same as happened to CA and IL.

Fortunately, the SCOTUS could weigh in...

Truly, our only real hope because the prominent politicans are NOT going to do anything but run their mouths while making empty promises.

No @sneakypete ... The real hope is in nullification. As the counties refuse to enforce it, it becomes a law with no power. And in the end refusing the governance of those mega-cities is the only real cure.

And that is what controls the state against the counties... even as the states control the fed.

Ordinances created under the color of law must be ignored. At any level.

Can't argue with ANY of that on a theoretical level, but the reality is that damn few people are going to be willing to face arrest, trial, fines, property seizures, criminal records, etc, etc, etc to be effective.

Yeah,we ALL love to pretend we will, but then reality can come "a'knocking",and when the choice is to either SFTU and sit down or "stand up for your principles",we all know what at least 75 percent of the  population will do. ESPECIALLY those with children or elderly parents to care for.

That's alright. It's always been 35% or less that stood and fought. And even that I would question here.

I would surely hate to be the fed walking up the holler to take folks guns away.
And it would be the feds. Because the sheriff here ain't that stupid.

Exodus 18:21 Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders over ....
