Gisele Fetterman, the wife of Sen.-elect John Fetterman (D-PA), is fighting back against criticism by claiming "the right wing hates women."

Fetterman made the accusation in an interview with the New Republic when asked about the media portrayal that she is some puppeteer trying to control her husband, who is recovering from a stroke.

“The right wing hates women. They especially hate strong women, and I think that’s what you’re seeing,” Fetterman said. “The fact that a spouse of a senator-elect has been attacked nonstop for the past 24 hours and everyone’s OK with it and everyone thinks it’s normal … it’s not normal.”

The outgoing second lady of Pennsylvania has been accused by some of attempting to steal the spotlight because of her constant presence on the campaign trail for her husband, as he recovered from a nearly fatal stroke, and for posting pictures from her husband's Senate orientation with him partially cut off of the photo.
