Democrats sue to open Georgia early voting on Saturday after Thanksgiving, despite voting law
Runoff between Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican candidate Herschel Walker set for Dec. 6
By Claudia Kelly-Bazan , Greg Norman | Fox News

Georgia Democrats have announced that they are suing the state over not allowing early voting on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the Warnock-Walker Senate runoff, despite voting law saying ballot boxes can only open the following Monday.

The party says the lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of Fulton County by the Warnock for Georgia campaign, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), and the Democratic Party of Georgia is meant to "protect Georgians’ access to Saturday early voting."

"Illegal attempts to block Saturday voting are another desperate attempt by career politicians to squeeze the people out of their own democracy and to silence the voices of Georgians," Quentin Fulks, Warnock for Georgia Campaign Manager, said in a statement.

"Republicans are once again attempting to rig the system to disenfranchise voters' right to participate in our democracy," added Christie Roberts, DSCC executive director.

However, Georgia voting law states that, "There shall be a period of advance voting that shall commence... On the fourth Monday immediately prior to a runoff from a general election in which there are candidates for a federal office on the ballot in the runoff."

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is now accusing, "Senator [Raphael] Warnock and his Democratic Party allies [of] seeking to change Georgia law right before an election based on their political preferences.

Republicans in Georgia should assign voter lists to teams of paid volunteers and have them go door to door with ballots for every registered Republican they can reach.

The only way to beat Democrats is at their own game.

Time to start playing.

ANY time there's a runoff and ANY time there is a mulligan election, it should strictly be in person, paper ballots and purple fingers.

Warnock, DSCC Sue To Allow For Extra Day
Of Early Voting In Georgia Senate Runoff

Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia, along with party allies, have sued the state to allow for an extra day of early voting before the U.S. Senate runoff election on Dec. 6.

Warnock, joined by the Democratic Party of Georgia and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, has filed a complaint for an injunction in the Fulton County Superior Court, seeking to force Georgia to allow early voting on Saturday, Nov. 26. Early voting in the race is scheduled to begin on Monday, Nov. 28 and run until Friday, Nov. 29, the mandatory five days required by state law.

Georgia elections law prohibits early voting on a Saturday if a holiday falls within two days of it.

“Illegal attempts to block Saturday voting are another desperate attempt by career politicians to squeeze the people out of their own democracy and to silence the voices of Georgians,” stated Quentin Fulks, Warnock’s campaign manager, in comments to Fox 5.

The race in Georgia is headed to a runoff after neither Republican candidate Herschel Walker nor Warnock received 50% of the vote on Election Day. The runoff will be held solely between both candidates, with the winner being elected to the Senate for a full six-year term.

Judge Rewrites Georgia Law to Favor Warnock

The American Spectator by  David Catron 11/20/2022

Notorious pettifogger Marc Elias convinces court to ignore the plain text of election statute.

Now that the Republicans have eked out a majority in the House of Representatives, one midterm mystery remains: Who will Georgia send to the U.S. Senate? Because incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock couldn’t convince a majority of Georgia voters to reelect him on Nov. 8, he must face GOP challenger Herschel Walker in a Dec. 6 runoff. Democratic angst over the rematch was such that they sent controversial Clinton attorney Marc Elias to drag Warnock over the finish line.

In Georgia, candidates for statewide office must win 50 percent of the vote — plus one — to be declared the winner. Warnock spent a record-breaking $75.9 million yet garnered only 49.4 percent. Walker received 48.5 percent, and 2.1 percent went to Libertarian spoiler Chase Oliver. The latter won’t be on the Dec. 6 ballot, and this worried the Democrats enough to call in Elias, who filed a lawsuit alleging that the state illegally prohibited early voting on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger responded as follows:

If recent elections prove one thing, it’s that voters expect candidates to focus on winning at the ballot box- not at the courthouse. Senator Warnock and his Democratic Party allies are seeking to change Georgia law right before an election based on their political preferences. Instead of muddying the water and pressuring counties to ignore Georgia law, Senator Warnock should be allowing county election officials to continue preparations for the upcoming runoff.

At issue was a 2016 statute that prohibits early voting on the second Saturday before a runoff if it follows a “legal holiday occurring on the Thursday or Friday immediately preceding such second Saturday.” The Elias lawsuit argued that the law applies only to primary and general elections, despite six references to runoffs in its text. Last Friday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Thomas Cox ruled in favor of Warnock, finding that the law “does not explicitly prohibit counties from conducting advance voting on Saturday, November 26, 2022.”

Warnock was predictably elated by the ruling. Friday evening, he took to Twitter and celebrated the decision: “This is a big WIN for democracy. Saturday voting is critical for Georgia voters, especially students and workers. I’m glad the courts have spoken in favor of making it easier for Georgia voters to have a say in their own democracy.” Not everyone saw it as a victory for the voters, however. Jason Snead, executive director of Honest Elections Project, issued a statement denouncing the judge’s misreading of the statute:

Until the GOP and We the People get a handle on election integrity, things like this will continue to happen.

Conversing about Trump or anyone else running in '24 is really a mute issue as the DEMS will continue to steal elections.  9999hair out0000

Why do they even care?

After all,it's not like most of them would have to take off from work to vote. Voting left IS their "work".

Could be. I had not even considered that.
