IMO, Trump is threatened because Oz and Walker whiffed, so his "brand" is damaged and Desantis won by 20 points. That's how I'm reading this. Shakespearean levels of drama here.

The Trump message (i.e. Democrats are bad) did not win us any elections in 2022.

Other than 'Build the Wall' (which didn't happen under four years of Trump) and 'Build the XL Pipeline' (which also didn't happen under four years of Trump), what does Trump actually offer?  Nothing on inflation.  Nothing on crime.  Nothing on education.  Nothing against Covid fascism.  All of these problems originated under his watch.

My guess is Trump fully knows what's going in the RNC/GOP behind the scenes and he  ----  too ----- is gearing up for a repeat of 2015.

Youngkin has been increasing talk of a possible run for the presidency for months.  In fact, Youngkin is on the Ryan/McConnell short list of potential "take out Trump" candidates should RDS fall through.

Why now?  Winsome Sears just became Youngkin's public surrogate.  Open the door, and Trump will walk through it.   :shrug:

Trump knew he'd be blamed for outcomes, even joked about it on the trail, so I'm guessing he doubled down on opposition research.  He's not one to surrender to threats.

As for the RDS victory, why didn't a popular Republican incumbent ---   a global icon of near political perfection --- running in a Republican state against an opposition throw away candidate not win by 50 points?

I'd like to know why --- and how this information affects RDS's national political messaging.  I wonder if Ryan will make this public.   :pondering:

Oh, is this the new standard?  Having to win a race by 50 points?  Let me guess, this standard was put in place by Donald Trump when he won a race by 50 points?

Sounds like a typical Democrat argument to me.  Apply a standard to your opponent that you do not apply to yourself.

Seriously??  Have you looked at DeSantis' FL victory map??  He took Miami-Dade County and Palm Beach County which are heavily Hispanic and Democrat.  That was no easy feat.  He won. He won BIGLY!

I believe that Trump has become unhinged.  The results of the candidates that he supported didn't turn out all that well and he is being criticized. Meanwhile DeSantis won BIGLY and he sees him as a threat. Why he's starting to go after others only proves that he cannot control his narcissism and chaotic personality.

IMHO he continues this crappola and he will lose support very quickly.  He needs to continues to spread the MAGA message and get ready to pass the torch on to someone else.  DeSantis, Neom, etc.

Trump was a great president and he should absolutely get a pat on the back.  But obviously his knee jerk reactions to the mid terms is indicative that it is time to move on.

You missed the point @libertybele   This is not a diss of RDS's victory; 20 points is impressive.  But, why it wasn't higher under ideal election conditions WILL be investigated by Ryan's team ---- for good or for ill---- as part of measuring RDS's national viability.

I think the Walker and Oz fiascos rattled Mr. Trump more than people realize.  It was probably was the one worst political hit to his political brand since he has ventured into it.

The real barometer will be to see how well attended his future rallies are.

I think we’re all over psychoanalyzing  Trump. And I guess we all have our own theories for his behavior but this is not some kind of grand political strategy.  This is Hillary Clinton territory
