I've got a truck load of "I told you so's" for those youngsters.

In a way, I can relate to them:

At 18, I voted for McGovern.
At 22, I voted for Carter.

Between the age of 22 and 26, I was in my first 4 years in the Army. By the election of 1980, I had been a platoon leader for 3 platoons, XO, and battalion staff officer, all in Germany.

My neighbors pleaded with me to vote for Carter, they were so sure that Reagan would start WWIII. Leading up to the election, we had discussions in the local gasthaus 2-3 times a week. My main premise was that the world was a safer place when America is strong, and that remains true 42 years later.

I was weird...  I was a political junkie at age 10, and was a W.F . Buckley fan, and watched "Firing Line".  Also when registering to vote in '75, I was the 3rd Registered Republican in the history of my county.  Yeah, I missed out a ton of primaries early, but I kept my principles.
And yes, have been hard right since.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

I can proudly proclaim that I have never voted for a Democrat presidential candidate and that is unlikely to change at this point.

Edit to add that I did vote for a little hand grenade with a bad haircut once.

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

I used to vote for Jim Oberstar when I lived in the 8th Congressional district in MN. But that's it. If i don't vote GOP, then i'll vote libertarian

Oberstar was pro life, pro 2nd amendment, and a supporter of the mining and logging industry in Northern Minn

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Desantis has never said he is not running either...
Well the hysteria around desantis has been out of control for several months and Trump probably sees him as competition to be dealt with.
If desantis cannot take a little heat from an "ally" just wait till the socialists get a hold of him..

I've wondered why no one has asked DeSantis directtly about any of this.  It's all a little too pre-planned and coordinated.

I know RDS is busy with the weather in FL -- but it looks like the thunderstorm has passed, so he should be available for a question or two

I think the difference between your youthful years is your vote was based on youthful idealism. Today, young people have been taught to hate the country and everything it stands for

Look at what Trump just published.  He cannot be on the ticket, period.

His latest dump was calling DeSantis just an average governor and again calling him Desanctimonious. So tired of him.

In '16 Trump's antics were chalked up as being a puncher-counter-puncher.

That shit doesn't fly in '24.  From  my perspective, DJT's standing within the GOP as at a low since he slithered down the escalator.

DeSantis doesn't deserve the jealous rants of a leader who needs to step aside.

Trump's biggest defenders, one of the biggest influencer in the GOP, Rush, isn't around anymore, too.

Trump still has Hannity, but ol' Sean has as much egg on his face as Trump with the Oz/Walker debacle.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
So those young people who all came out and voted D all for naught
Yep. And I'd bet that money swayed far more votes than abortion. Besides, blue staters will still have the easy access to murdering their own progeny.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion

Twas not for naught, the dems got exactly what they wanted using the same bait and switch tactics they have been successfully playing Blacks with for decades. I'm sure that the dems knew it wouldn't hold up to scrutiny and were just betting on the ruling coming to late to affect the election. After decades of programming the democrats have achieved a much larger and diverse racial group of political lemmings. Any one of these idiots that believed Brandon's BS about student loan forgiveness has no business whining, they thought they had a good a deal from a sleazy politician who learned his trade from his sleazy used car salesman daddy.

  • Adopt your next pet, preferably a senior.
Why would he do that?  Trump is punching himself in the face.

... and making himself look even smaller in the public eye since I would guess that DeSantis' priority is cleaning up after yet another hurricane. If DeSantis were to turn into a little titty-baby a la Trump, he'd lose all the support he just gained as a result of being the target of one of Trump's tantrums.
