Minority Whip Steve Scalise announces bid for House majority leader

by Cami Mondeaux, Breaking News Reporter

Rep. Steve Scalise announced his intent to run for House majority leader as the Republican Party is poised to take control of the lower chamber for the next two years.

"Through your engagement on the various task forces, we were able to develop the bold, conservative agenda laid out in the Commitment to America," Scalise said, referring to Rep. Kevin McCarthy's proposed agenda for the House should the GOP take control in 2023.

I voted McCarthy because that means he wouldn't be Speaker.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-
