OLYMPIA — Gov. Jay Inslee and Attorney General Bob Ferguson are again calling on lawmakers to ban assault-style semiautomatic rifles this session.

Inslee and Ferguson joined legislators and others Monday affected by the recent gun violence in Tukwila to announce upcoming legislation to reduce gun violence. The legislation addresses assault weapons, permits to purchase guns and holding businesses that sell guns liable.

“We know that Washington state is not passive, and we do not have to surrender to this scourge of gun violence,” Inslee said at the news conference.

The proposal would ban the sale, manufacture and import of assault weapons in Washington. It would exempt the manufacture and sale for law enforcement and the military. Similar to the high capacity magazine ban last year, the proposal does not ban the possession of assault weapons.

Inslee called assault-style firearms “weapons of war.”

At one time or another...

stones/rocks, chipped/shaped, sharp or otherwise (earliest documented murder weapon was a rock)...
large bones...
pointy sticks (hand held)...
Pointy sticks with better points on the end...
Longer pointy sticks...
Pointy sticks shot from something...
rocks shot from something...
Blades of stone, shell, bronze, iron, steel...
A wide variety of blunt and edged instruments...
Primitive agricultural implements...
animals...
slings...
slingshots...
blowpipes and darts (little pointy sticks dipped in stuff)...
chemicals...
chemicals used to propel objects into/through a target and the devices which enabled that, large and small...
germs...
unstable atoms...
have all been used as weapons of war, and those are just the fundamentals...

:silly:

You can't ban them all, and even if it was successfully done, there are still hands and feet.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
