State Rep. Brian Harrison (R–Midlothian)—who served as chief of staff of the United States Department of Health and Human Services under President Donald Trump—pointed out language on Texas’ own Health and Human Services Commission’s website suggests the COVID vaccine could be required in Texas schools.
“Whether heading to kindergarten, junior high or college, children need all CDC-recommended vaccines,” the agency’s “Back to School” website read.
Within hours, the THHSC removed the language from their website. Harrison praised the agency for taking quick action. “Unelected DC bureaucrats must not make healthcare decisions for Texas children.”
Christine Welborn, the executive director of Texans for Vaccine Choice, says their organization will continue to fight all such the mandates.
“This is yet another example of unelected bureaucrats shoving their brand of healthcare down Texans’ throats and we will continue to advocate for informed consent, medical privacy, and vaccine choice,” said Welborn.
Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis assured citizens the shot would not be mandated in Florida schools no matter what the CDC says.
“As long as I am Governor, in Florida there will not be a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for children in our schools,” said DeSantis.
