The crisis continues as August numbers bring the fiscal year’s total number of encounters on the southern border to 2,150,244.

As President Joe Biden’s open border policies continue incentivizing the ongoing crisis on the southwest border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that with 203,598 encounters in August, the federal fiscal year total is now a record-breaking 2,150,244.

However, of the 203,598 encounters along the border in August, 22 percent (nearly 45,000) involved individuals who had at least one prior encounter with CBP in the previous 12 months.

Current CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus blamed “failing communist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba” for “driving a new wave of migration across the Western Hemisphere, including the recent increase in encounters at the southwest U.S. border.”
