Who in the hell does he think he is to tell the people of Africa what to do??  Think of how much having electricity would help them.

Climate czar John Kerry warns Africa not to use natural gas to bring power to millions

"We are not saying no gas," Kerry said. "What we are saying is, over the next few years, gas replaces coal or replaces oil."

His comments tapped into a fundamental problem for Senegal and other energy impoverished nations in Africa. According to the International Energy Agency, more than 600 million people – nearly half of Africa’s population – lack electricity.

Many African nations say developing their oil and gas resources is critical to boosting electricity production, powering industries, and curbing energy poverty. Yet many developed nations, including the United States are curbing investments in fossil fuels to uphold hold their pledge to transition to cleaner energy by the end of the decade.

"We do not have to rush to go backward, we need to be very careful about exactly how much we are going to deploy, how it is going to be paid for, over what period of time and how do you capture the emissions." Kerry said. .................

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Shutoff electricity and natural gas to Nantucket.  See how that goes.

Did he fly to Africa in his private jet to tell the impoverished people they're that they are not entitled to electricity?

You’ll get the same reaction from him as liberals had in Martha’s Vineyard and blue cities when Abbott and DeSantis shipped illegal immigrants to their neighborhoods
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

We were in Nantucket some 17 years ago and admired Teresa Heinz Kerry's mansion from afar, gazing at it hungrily like a Martha's Vineyard illegal immigrant awaiting his breakfast of off-brand Rice Krispies.

The audacity of the left continues to astonish me; shattering the chance for people to actually have electricity which could benefit so many is just despicable.

Not only is it despicable, it's just plain wrong - Nat Gas and electricity certainly is less polluting than wood fires and oil lamps... If he believes his own shtick....

Considering how long other people have grown wealthy off Africa's natural resources, I have no problems with Africans benefiting from their own oil and gas, for starters.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

That's right - It is emerging nations that are the big polluters... The ones that are technically advanced are far less polluting - China or India vs US or Europe...

The big polluters like China, Russia, and India are the worst polluters but friends with communists and radical muslims, so they can massively pollute all they want.  Responsible Western nations get relentlessly and endless demonization, regardless of being highly responsible.  Good Communists like good democrats don't attack their own when capitalist must come first.

Alright. But none of that matters a damn bit on the ground in the third world, where they are desperate for a means of distributed energy ... And the cheap and easy energy is always the polluting kind.

In the end, regardless of any argument otherwise, it's what they can do, and they should do it.
With the energy comes prosperity, and with the prosperity comes the ability to afford the higher tech, more refined means of energy which will tend to pollute less.

The necessary means to the end goes through the lesser, cheaper, more polluting forms. Or they must stay in grinding poverty. That's the only choice here.

In many of these countries, oil drilling produces natural gas, and for that matter, liquifiable fractions like propane and butane that can be stored and shipped in tanks, large and small, not just pipelined. Those gas fractions could be used for anything from direct fuel to generating electricity, and distillates from the crude (like diesel) and heavy ends like asphalt used to do a host of modernizing. Africa has the resources to do this, and with some investment, the ability to do it right (as far as pollution goes). Most of the barriers to this are political, and in some cases, religious. Tribalism and corruption, as well as Muslim terror groups will make this difficult, but the resources are there onshore and off, and are being tapped in some countries already.  Now, that's subSaharan Africa, I'm talking about there, there are well established resources in North Africa as well.

Why shouldn't the Africans use some of their own?
Old data, but it points out what there was then, and new discoveries are being made even now.  I doubt the average African would object to having energy from their own country, even though I'd wager the majority is exported.

Even kerosene, which to my understanding is the easiest to refine - Even kerosene is a godsend in a rudimentary lifestyle.

I understand that the lion's share of human suffering is caused by varied forms of tyranny - Something I have never been able to comprehend. What good is wealth in a sh*thole? Burgeoning economies make tremendous opportunities and a vibrancy that would be far better to be a lord over.

It makes no sense to me to leave people in squalor. The riches of a rich land far surpass whatever riches one might find otherwise... And a wealthy and happy people are far easier to govern.

John sKerry wants to keep blacks down in Africa, holding back energy to them, much like the democrats are now trying to do the same in America, and other foreigners thrown in for good measure.
