Falling gas prices give Democrats a sense of optimism for November
by Rachel Frazin - 09/11/22 12:00 PM ET

Weeks of falling gas prices are dulling what had previously been a sharp Republican weapon, giving Democrats another glimmer of hope ahead of the midterm elections.

Months ago, sky-high gas prices were a major reason why Democrats’ prospects looked bleak.

But as candidates hit the homestretch ahead of the Nov. 8 midterms, the lower gas prices are giving reasons for Democrats to think they can be more competitive.

“It takes a lot of the effectiveness out of a cudgel when people aren’t seeing and feeling it as much,” Democratic strategist Eddie Vale said of gas prices.

Since hitting a June peak of $5.02 on average across the country, U.S. gasoline prices have fallen by $1.28 and are averaging about $3.74 per gallon as of Friday.

That’s still relatively high and up about 56 cents from a year ago. It’s about $1.18 higher compared to the same day in 2019, prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

Still, the prices are going in a better direction for consumers and the party in power.

Republicans have sought to make the election about inflation — with gas prices being a heavy target. But some polls suggest voters are now looking at other issues.

If you set foot into a grocery store on a regular basis you know what a crock of bull the sHill selling.  Gas don't mean a thang when vittles cost 450 more a month.

Clearly, the recession is having an effect on fuel prices.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Title and presumption:
"Falling gas prices give democrats a sense of optimism for November..."

The voting public is fickle with a short memory.
The lower gas prices WILL have some effect in November.
How much... remains to be seen.

For that fraction of the electorate that recalls gas prices under $2.00, it won't mean much, especially for those well-informed  enough to recognize that this will end within a month of the mid-terms as the continuing assault on the oil and gas industry continues and the SPR runs dry.

Expect $5 per gallon after November. Biden can't keep sending our oil to China forever--there isn't enough left. In the meantime, there is some hope around the world and at home. I have never been so busy working on wellsites--I haven't left this one (we're done, I am just taking time to post some) and I am filling out the ticket for another one starting today. We're drilling (private, not government leases), it's getting product to refineries and to market that is the hangup.

Pity some pipelines have been stopped...

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

A five-point plan to secure a Republican majority come November
By Newt Gingrich
September 12, 2022 06:00 AM
Quote
Republicans have the potential for a surprisingly big victory come this November's midterm elections.

The public is dealing with a cost-of-living crisis (more than 20,000,000 are behind on their utility bills), rising energy costs, a record number of homicides, carjackings, and robberies, and the consequences of a wide-open border policy that has brought in a massive influx of both people and drugs. On virtually every front, people are finding themselves frustrated and frightened by a Democratic Party that is simply failing.  ...

Here are some key steps.

First, ignore the media’s efforts to get you to focus on 2024 presidential politics and the unending effort to smear President Donald Trump. Your job is to stay focused on the issues that matter in the lives of everyday people. The cost-of-living crisis, especially the skyrocketing cost of food, comes first. The ripple effects of the cost-of-living crisis on electricity prices, gasoline prices, heating oil in the Northeast, diesel fuel, fertilizer, and other necessities should be a part of your campaign. When possible, campaign at gas stations and grocery stores. Explain big-government socialist spending as the major cause of inflation.   ...

8% inflation being battered around is a lie.

But bragging on 7% vs. 8%, when we are used to 1-2%, is beyond incredulous as a win.  Stupid dims.
