U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Thursday the United States must look to “the wind, sun, and other clean sources of energy” instead of relying on oil and gas.

Yellen’s remarks came during a trip to Detroit, Michigan, where she boasted about the Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act.

“Our plan — powered by the Inflation Reduction Act — represents the largest investment in fighting climate change in our country’s history,” Yellen told the crowd. “It will put us well on our way toward a future where we depend on the wind, sun, and other clean sources of energy.”

“We will rid ourselves from our current dependence on fossil fuels and the whims of autocrats like [Russian President Vladimir] Putin,” Yellen added.

If they were serious about not using oil and gas, they'd be working on streamlining the approval process for standardized nuclear reactors and subsidizing production.

Because there will never be enough energy with wind and solar - and then the FedGov will ration it. Blue states and cronies get first dibs, the rest do without. Grandma and alot of others starve or freeze.

That was rather the point of my statement. The premise -- that they are serious about not using oil and gas -- is plainly false.  As I gather you also suspect, this isn't really about "decarbonizing the economy". It's about increasing the level of social control already exercised by the professional managerial class to totalitarian levels.

Our house has experienced two electricity blackouts this week.  A neighbor just had a Generac backup system installed.

The electric grid will fail because there is no incentive for investment.

The NIMBY's oppose:

- new power generation plants
- new transmission lines
- new energy pipelines

Of course they'll blame corporate greed.
