Here’s who will inherit Queen Elizabeth’s most famous tiaras

Queen Elizabeth — who died Thursday at age 96 — had one of the largest and most expensive private collections of jewels in the world, and at the heart of it are around 50 stunning tiaras. What will happen to these tiaras, and who will inherit them, depends on which jewelry collection they come from.

Some of the pieces — her crowns and brooches, as well as ceremonial maces and rings — form part of the Crown Jewels, which are displayed at the Tower of London and are gawked at by around 2.5 million tourists a year. This priceless collection of mainly ceremonial items, some of them going back 800 years, belongs not to a person but to the Crown and whoever is the monarch.

Similarly, there is the Royal Collection, which contains most of the royal family’s extensive artworks —the largest private collection in the world — and their jewels. All together, it makes up more than 1 million objects, some of them going back to the time of Henry VIII.

The Royal Collection is in itself divided into two portions. The bulk of the items are held in trust by the monarch of the time. And then there is the queen’s personal collection. This is mainly made up of items she inherited or was gifted by family members (her grandmother Queen Mary was famous for her love of jewels and was a particular fan of tiaras) or bought herself. Many of Queen Elizabeth’s recognizable tiaras are believed to be in her personal collection so, in theory, she could give them to who she wanted.

“It is likely that she would want to pass on items from her private collection to her loved ones,” royal commentator Josh Rom told The Post. “The bulk of the collection will pass to Charles — with Camilla as his queen consort — and then Kate, so they may not be left anything big [in the will].”.............

Meghan's mixed reaction as she returns to royal life: Duchess is embraced by young women during walkabout at Windsor - while others in crowd offer out a handshake with stony faces

Meghan Markle tonight received a mixed reaction from a crowd in Windsor as she returned to royal life alongside Prince Harry for a surprise appearance with the Prince and Princess of Wales. The royal mother-of-two, who stepped back from royal duty last year and now lives in her $14 million mansion in the US, has released a series of bombshell interviews in the last 18 months about her time in the royal family. Meghan was seen cooing over babies in the crowd and even offered hugs out to some of the mourners waiting - but others in the crowd greeted Meghan with stony faces this evening as she took part in the walkabout.

A 'tearful' Princess of Wales has revealed Prince Louis’s sweet tribute to his great-grandmother the Queen.

Prince William and Harry, along with their wives Kate and Meghan Markle, went on a 40-minute walkabout at Windsor Castle inspecting the sea of floral tributes this evening.

Among the crowd on the Long Walk, Banita Ranow, 28, said she heard Kate tell children next to her about what her youngest son Louis had said about the Queen's death.

She said Kate told the children: 'Louis said at least Grannie is with great grandpa now.'

Ms Ranow said Kate was 'welling up' as she spoke to the children.

The well-wisher from west London also spoke of her surprise at seeing the two brothers and their wives together, adding: 'It was really nice.'

Just think that everything with E's cypher EllR [which means Elizabeth Regina. “Regina” meaning queen in Latin and the II is to mark that she was Elizabeth II.]

Everthing now has to be changed to ClllR...[ CIIIR which stands for Charles III Rex. “Rex” means king in Latin. The new King had the choice of using his middle names, Philip, Arthur or George but chose to rule as Charles III instead.]

Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin passes through Scottish towns, residents say goodbye

Residents of Scotland paid their respects to Queen Elizabeth II as her funeral cortege passed through towns and villages on Sunday as the late monarch’s coffin traveled to Edinburgh.

“It’s been such an incredibly sad week knowing the queen has passed but she has been such a good queen to us all,” said 62-year-old Ballater resident Pauline Lawson. “She’s been loyal, she’s been dignified, she’s been kind and compassionate, everything you’d want from a monarch.”

The late queen’s hearse drove past piles of bouquets and other tributes as it led a seven-car cortege from Balmoral, where the monarch died Thursday, for a six-hour trip through Scottish towns to Holyroodhouse palace in Edinburgh.

"It's just very very sad. But I’m happy I was here to say our goodbyes,” said Elizabeth Alexander, a 69-year-old resident of Huntly, Scotland, who was born on the day of the Queen’s coronation.

EXCLUSIVE: 'The most extraordinary honor of my life': Former president Donald J. Trump writes movingly for DailyMail.com of his time with the 'iconic' Queen - and her riposte when he asked: 'Who WAS your favorite PM?'
Sep 10, 2022

Quote
The whole of civilization is in mourning. The passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the enlightened monarch who reigned over the United Kingdom for 70 years, is a loss felt by billions around the world.

This week, and in the weeks ahead, we especially grieve for the royal family — we can only imagine their sorrow.

And we express our solidarity with all the people of the United Kingdom and every realm of the Commonwealth she so loved.

Few in history have more fully exemplified the traits of dignity, steadfastness, resolve, duty, and patriotic devotion.

She counseled 15 Prime Ministers and 13 Presidents, and was the longest-serving monarch in the history of England and the United Kingdom.

Spending time with Her Majesty was one of the most extraordinary honors of my life.

I grew up in a household where Queen Elizabeth — her grace, her charm, her nobility — were deeply admired, especially by my mother, who came from Scotland.

The times we spent with the Queen at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle are memories Melania and I will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Her Majesty had a sharp mind, missed nothing, and always knew exactly what to say.

At our unforgettable State Dinner three years ago, we got along wonderfully, talking the whole evening.

That same week, the 75th anniversary of D-Day, we sat side-by-side to honor the sacrifice of the British and American warriors who fought and bled together in the Second World War.

I will forever be grateful for the privilege of getting to know this unparalleled leader.

As monarch, Her Majesty the Queen was the personal embodiment of nearly a century of British history.

Every Prime Minister from Winston Churchill onward served under her.

When I asked her who was her favorite, she told me she liked them all.

She saw her country through the Blitz of London, the Cold War, the Falklands conflict, the coal miners’ strikes, Brexit, COVID, and so much more.

No matter what challenges came, she was always there for her people—resolute and unflappable, stabilizing and reassuring by her very presence.

In the face of all adversity, she embodied the uniquely British attribute of a firm and quiet resolve.

The qualities that served Queen Elizabeth so well as monarch also endeared her to the hearts of countless people all over the world.

From Africa to Asia to the Americas, she was the United Kingdom’s greatest emissary.

Through her travels to well over 100 countries, she touched countless lives, spreading confidence, goodwill, and admiration for British values everywhere she went.

Nowhere was this truer than in the United States.

The treasured friendship and precious bond between America and the United Kingdom, which we call the Special Relationship, meant that Her Majesty the Queen was truly special to us as well.

She was respected and beloved by the American People like few other figures in modern times.

Above all, the Queen was great because Britain is great.

In her person, the world witnessed the fullest expression of the British spirit.

The virtues she epitomized were the virtues of the British people.

By her example, we saw what it means to be British—a people who are strong and unwavering, wise and just, noble and majestic; a people who are serious, but good-humored; proud, but righteous; and indeed a people who are a blessing to the entire world.

That was Queen Elizabeth, and that is the United Kingdom. She was Great Britain at its very best.

It will take time for us to fully absorb the extent of this loss.

She was indispensable—a beloved Sovereign of her Kingdom, an icon to the world, a legend in her time.

As we grieve, we are comforted that King Charles III will be a great and outstanding successor to his cherished mother.

Melania and I were blessed to get to know him well when we visited England.

He dearly loves the U.K. and its people. I know he will prove to be an inspiration to the British People, and that under Charles’s reign, they will continue to persevere through all challenges, and push relentlessly onward toward their great destiny in which Queen Elizabeth II so deeply believed.

God bless the Queen. God bless her family. God bless the United Kingdom.

William and Charles' olive branch to Harry and Meghan led to 45-minute negotiation before the 'Fab Four' were reunited to view flowers left for the Queen at Windsor Castle

Prince and Princess of Wales and Duke of Duchess of Sussex wore black while inspecting tributes to Queen

The historic joint walkabout between William and Kate and Meghan and Harry only took place after an extended negotiation which delayed the Sussexes arrival by at least 45 minutes, a source suggested today.

Royal sources say Prince William attempted to bury the hatchet by extending an '11th-hour olive branch' to his younger brother Prince Harry, by asking him to join him on a walkabout outside Windsor Castle following a phone call with his father Charles III.

In a scene that clearly delighted royal fans, who had come in their hundreds to the gates of the Windsor estate to mourn the Queen's death, William and Harry walked out side-by-side with wives Kate and Meghan.

The two couples went on an 40-minute walkabout inspecting the sea of floral tributes laid outside the gates of the royal estate in honour of the much-loved monarch.

Last night, a Kensington Palace spokesman said that the Prince of Wales had invited the Sussexes to join him and the Princess of Wales during yesterday evening's walkabout.

However, according to The Times, the camps required extended negotiations beforehand which delayed their arrival by 45 minutes.

A senior Palace source said: 'The Prince of Wales invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join him and the Princess of Wales earlier. The Prince of Wales thought it was an important show of unity for the Queen at an incredibly difficult time for the family.'

William and Kate 'delay move to Windsor Castle' to avoid upheaval for George, Charlotte and Louis who moved house, started a new school and lost their 'Gan-Gan' in the same week

The Prince and Princess of Wales have postponed moving to Windsor Castle

The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to move to Windsor Castle but will postpone the relocation to prevent their children's lives from facing more upheaval, it is claimed.

Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, moved house, started a new school and lost their 'Gan-Gan' in just six days.

The couple has told courtiers they hope to give their children time to settle in school before having to deal with moving house again, The Telegraph reported.

A source told the newspaper: 'They won’t be starting from scratch when it comes to decisions on what happens to all of the royal properties because there have been lots of conversations about that over the years, but things can change when family dynamics are taken into account and they will want as little disruption to their children’s lives as possible right now.

Soldiers will guard the coffin around the clock during visitation. Members of the Royal Family are also expected to take turns standing guard, a tradition known as the Vigil of the Princes. Princes Edward and Charles (pictured) both guarded the Queen Mother's coffin in 2002
