In a divisive address, Biden called “MAGA Republicans” a threat to the country.“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” said Biden before claiming, “There is no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country.”
Texas GOP Chairman Matt Rinaldi called the speech “shameful,” stating, “America doesn’t want a President that sounds like a mental patient railing against real and imagined enemies. They want one who will fix inflation, crime and the border.”
Rinaldi also highlighted Twitter’s response to Biden’s speech, before explaining that “if any Texas Republican votes in this political climate to put Democrats in charge of powerful committees, it is an absolute betrayal of their voters.”
State Rep. Jared Patterson (R–Frisco) also brought the issue back to the current economic crisis, stating, “I’d love to take this country backwards to $1.78 gasoline and an affordable basket of groceries,” in response to Biden’s remark that “MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards.”
