California to Ban the Sale of New Gasoline Cars
August 24, 2022in News

WASHINGTON — California on Thursday is expected to put into effect its sweeping plan to prohibit the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2035, a groundbreaking move that could have major effects on the effort to fight climate change and accelerate a global transition toward electric vehicles.

“This is huge,” said Margo Oge, an electric vehicles expert who headed the Environmental Protection Agency’s transportation emissions program under Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. “California will now be the only government in the world that mandates zero-emission vehicles. It is unique.”

The rule, issued by the California Air Resources Board, will require that 100 percent of all new cars sold in the state by 2035 be free of the fossil fuel emissions chiefly responsible for warming the planet, up from 12 percent today. It sets interim targets requiring that 35 percent of new passenger vehicles sold in the state by 2026 produce zero emissions. That would climb to 68 percent by 2030.

The restrictions are important because not only is California the largest auto market in the United States, but more than a dozen other states typically follow California’s lead when setting their own auto emissions standards.

I KNOW California doesn't have, and won't have, enough of it's own electricity to charge all those cars especially in their stop and go traffic. :nono:

So the left coast passes these insane laws and the manufacturers are then shut out of huge markets unless they lobby congress to follow suit and force the rest of the country to comply with the same laws so the manufacturers can reduce costs for the left coast.
 That is how we ended up with toilets that don't flush and light bulbs that don't

Exactly, which is why California should be stripped of the power to set vehicle emissions requirements that deviate in the slightest from federal requirements (AFAIK, it is currently the only state allowed to set more stringent requirements) because one insane state should not be allowed to set vehicle emissions law for the other 49 states.

17 states push EPA to revoke California’s ability to set its own vehicle emission standards

LA Times by Nathan Solis May 13, 2022

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-05-13/state-push-epa-on-california-vehicle-emissions-standards

The attorneys general of 17 states have asked a federal appeals court to reconsider an Environmental Protection Agency decision allowing California to set its own vehicle emission standards.

The policy was struck under President Trump and reinstated by the Biden administration earlier this year.

California’s vehicle emission standards are some of the toughest in the nation, and the 17 Republican attorneys general argue the EPA’s decision to let the Golden State set its own rules forces the rest of the country to follow suit. The state first developed the standards in 2004 but was barred from implementing them until 2009, when the EPA granted California permission to impose tough restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions from cars and trucks.

The states of Missouri, Ohio, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and West Virginia joined in a petition to the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C. They claim the EPA’s decision would require all states to adopt California’s strict vehicle emission standards for all new cars under the authority of the Clean Air Act.

@rangerrebew

They know this too,and don't care because it is just a "tool" to be used to further the globalist goal of forcing everyone (not the leadership,of course) to live in apartment block in the city and walk,cycle,or take a bus to work.

This leaves the vast majority of the state open for the exclusive use of the leadership and their flunkies.

THEY,of course,will motor to their weekend estates in chauffeur-drive limos,where they can relax and party,peon-free.

Car prices are going up in California.

... Government over-regulation can also contribute to inflation.

@DefiantMassRINO

Nope,they will be going down. You will have a hard time giving one away because there will be no dealerships to service it,no parts stores to sell you the parts,and the state will refuse to sell you a license plate so you can drive it.

Unless,of course,you are a movie star,politician,billionaire,etc,etc,etc.

Bravado. They will backtrack in the end.

If there is anywhere in the world that is designed for the automobile, it would be the spread out world of Californian suburbia. They literally cannot accomplish their goals. Not without pissing off Californians to the point of utter rebellion.
