DHS building $500,000 taxpayer-funded wall at Biden’s Delaware beach house

President Biden may oppose building a wall along the U.S.’s southern border, but he’s currently spending nearly $500,000 of taxpayers’ money to construct a barrier around his vacation property at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

In September 2021, the Department of Homeland Security doled out a $455,000 contract to a Sussex County, Delaware, construction company to build a fence around the president’s “Summer White House,” according to USAspending.gov, an online database that tracks government spending.

Construction began last September and was expected to be completed by the end of 2021. However, unknown delays have pushed the expected completion date to June 6, 2023, and ballooned costs to $490,324.

Mr. Biden’s critics mocked the beach house wall.

“So walls work at Joe Biden‘s beach house but not the Southern border?” asked Rep. Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican, wrote on Twitter.

DHS is listed as the main awarding agency and funding office for the contract, while the U.S. Secret Service is listed as the subagency. No public details about the fence have been released.

The Secret Service declined to comment, saying only that it cannot discuss the “means, methods or resources used to conduct our protective operations.” A Homeland Security spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

Mr. Biden is expected to arrive at the Rehoboth Beach home on Saturday, the final leg of a two-week vacation that included stops in Charleston, South Carolina, and his residence in Wilmington, Delaware.

It will be Mr. Biden’s fifth stay this summer at the Rehoboth Beach getaway.

Abbott should call the bussing a Presidential tour  saying that it's all about giving the illegals an opportunity to thank the man who made their entrance to America and leaching off it's taxpayers possible.

Border walls?  Who needs border walls?

Apparently, only Joe Biden does.  The rest of us can go without.

According to a furious editorial by the New York Post:

    President Joe Biden is all for open borders — except when it comes to the one around his own vacation spot.

    He's stuck taxpayers with a bill for close to half a million for a security fence around his Delaware beach house, a project ongoing since last September, contracted out to a local builder by the Department of Homeland Security.

    The irony is rich: The same agency Biden has used to help erase the US southern border is overseeing a wall around the president's ocean hideaway.

    Yes, presidents need security (especially in these deranged political times). But the nation and the people who inhabit it also need security — as do those who aspire to come here.

It comes on the heels of news that some five million illegal migrants have crossed into the U.S. on Joe Biden's watch, which is almost a couple of Los Angeleses' worth.  About a tenth of those, according to news reports, are known as "gotaways," foreigners with criminal records, or ongoing criminal business for the most part, who have good reasons from their own point of view, to avoid any contact with the Border Patrol, even with its easy, sure-thing "catch and release" policies.  Characters from the terrorist watch lists have been sporadically apprehended, with gotaways on that front unknown, so that's some protection these Bidenites are offering.
