NYC moving migrants into famed luxury Times Square hotel

August 15, 2022

A luxury Manhattan hotel once touted as the “Lullabuy of Broadway” will soon be providing beddy-bye to hundreds of asylum-seeking migrants, The Post has learned.

Mayor Eric Adams plans to convert the Row NYC — formerly known as the Milford Plaza and located in pricey tourist-packed Times Square — into an intake center and shelter for as many as 600 migrant families amid the city’s spiraling homelessness crisis, three sources familiar with the matter said.

“In a month or two, we’re about to open up for [the city Department of Homeless Services], for homeless,” a hotel staffer told The Post on Monday.

“They’re working on an agreement, a contract,” the worker said of the plan, which is designed to help handle homeless border-crossers bused to the city from Texas.

“It’ll be here at this hotel, but they’ll keep the DHS shelter on a certain floor. But that hasn’t started yet, they said a month or two.”

The Milford Plaza use to be really posh, and I remember their adverts on tv.

They do this for 'border crossers', but not native homeless?

This is almost certainly a pay-off to the hotel owner,who no doubt contributed  cash to Dim candidates.

@Gefn

It will be really posh once again,once the illegals are moved out and the city/feral gooberment agrees to pay for any damages and updates that need to be done.

Tax-free to the hotel owner,of course.

My favorite hotel in the city is The New Yorker. I like it because it’s all done in Art Deco style. It has this vibrant energy to it. Tesla spent the last years of his life there.

At one time the Moonies bought it. Then it was sold to a hotel chain, and the last time I stayed there it was lovely.

I kinda like the Art Deco styling. It started in the late 20's,and was so popular by the 30's that car and truck manufacturers were producing art deco cars and trucks. My 1938 IHC half-ton pu had an art deco grille.

Unfortunately,some art deco styles were a lot more popular than others. The 30's art deco Chrysler "Airflow" cars come to mind. They put the "ugh" in "ugly".

The 30's and 40's Hudson pu's were beautiful for the most part,though.

I didn’t realize Art Deco also a included cars! How neat! The oldest cars I recall seeing on the road would be the ones with tail fins. They were a thing of beauty.

I know New York City has a few Art Deco buildings. Radio City Music Hall comes to mind, and my favorite skyscraper, The Chrysler Building.

The Empire St Building is also done as Art Deco,  but I think the Chrysler Building is prettier, plus it has gargoyles

Is the City or State of NY on the hook for the total renovation of the hotel's rooms this genius move will necessitate?

Quoth scores of Texas towns: "Welcome to our world of the past 18 months, NYC, welcome to our world."
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

@sneakypete

Wow!

I want to go back in time and get a ride in those beautiful cars.

The car I currently have is the best car I’ve ever had but it looks like most four door sedans on the market.

I wish cars all looked different like they once use to.

Speaking of strange cars, I’m seeing a lot of four door Mustangs lately. Is it me, or this this really wrong?

Seems wrong to me. I sure as hell ain't buying one. I had no choice but to buy a new car last month,and bought a Camry. Right at 40 MPG and crazy power for a 4 cylinder,thanks to that power boost known as "gearing" in the transmission.

It's beautiful and has quite a history attached to it.  If indeed they are turning it into condos that is very sad.
